Disney returns with 'The Princess Diaries': see how the cast is today!
Some 20 years after the release of the first film in the saga of 'The Princess Diaries,' Disney announced that it would produce a new sequel. The story was a hit in 2001 and 2004.
The first film marked the beginning of the career of Anne Hathaway. She shone at the age of 18 in the role of Mia Thermopolis, a teenager who discovers that she is heir to the throne of Genovia.
However, for Mia to assume her post, she needs to learn to be a princess. She has to take etiquette classes with her grandmother Clarisse Rinaldi, played by Julie Andrews.
The third film of the franchise, The Hollywood Reporter states, is produced by Debra Martin Chase (pictured), the same who produced the first two films.
The cast is not yet defined and there is no guarantee of the participation of Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews. However, anything can happen.
In an interview with 'Access Hollywood', Julie Andrews said: "I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible. It was talked about very shortly after two [The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement] came out, but it’s now... how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run."
