Double trouble! Stars who married the same person twice

Sometimes love deserves a second chance... or at least, that's what some of the celebrities in this gallery think. Several international stars have divorced and then decided to... marry the same person again!

One of Hollywood's most famous actresses, Melanie Griffith has been married four times, but to a total of three husbands! Yes, the former 'Working Girl' married Don Johnson, Dakota's daddy, twice before she met Banderas.

The two met when Griffith was very young and first got married in 1976. The first divorce came after only six months of marriage. Years later, in 1989, the spark ignited again and the couple decided to remarry. This time their relationship was longer lasting, although it ended with another divorce... in this case for the last time, in 1996.

The first meeting between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton took place on the set of the legendary film 'Cleopatra'. She was the star and he played Marcantonio. On screen, the two actors' love was passionate and tumultuous. It would also be so in real life, leading the couple straight to the altar on two occasions.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were married for the first time on 15 March 1964 in Montreal. The marriage would go through years of passion, quarrels and jealousy, culminating in a first divorce in 1974. Yet the love between the two stars was not yet over, so much so that they decided to try again, marrying again in October 1975, before finally divorcing in August 1976.

Another troubled love is the one between the famous rapper Eminem (born Marshall Bruce Mathers III) and Kim Scott. The two have collected two marriages and two divorces.

Having met in their school days, Eminem and Kim Scott decided to get married for the first time in 1999, but their first marriage ended in divorce in 2011. Five years later, however, they decided to give themselves another chance, by saying, 'I do' again. Still, the new promise only lasted a few months.

Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon are another couple who decided to give it another go after a first break-up. The first marriage between the 'Baywatch' lifeguard and Rick Salomon was in 2007 and lasted only 60 days.

A few years later, in 2014, the couple decided to try again and got married in secret, away from the spotlight. This time too, love ended at lightning speed, one year after the second wedding.

Actor and martial arts expert Jean-Claude Van Damme has twice married former bodybuilder and actress Gladys Portugues. The back-and-forth relationship lasted several years. The first marriage, from which their two children Kristopher and Bianca were born, took place in 1987 and ended in divorce in 1992.

In 1999, they decided to try again with a second marriage. According to several tabloids, a new divorce was in the air in 2015. However, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Gladys Portugues are still together.

An imperfect and inexplicable love was what was between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. They were two 'holy monsters' who met, loved, betrayed, and loved again several times during their turbulent lives. Their first marriage took place in 1929 and ended in 1932 when Frida discovered Rivera's betrayal with her sister Cristina Khalo.

In 1940, however, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera decided to remarry in San Francisco. From then on, they never left each other.

Marie Osmond, the star of 'Donny & Marie', has been happily married to Steve Craig since 2011. The two met and loved each other long before, however. Back then, they needed to grow apart and find each other again.

Marie Osmond was previously married to Steve Craig from 1982 to 1985. Before their reunion and second marriage in 2011, the actress had six children from her marriage to actor Brian Bosil.

Paul Hogan, the Golden Globe-winning actor in the film 'Crocodile Dundee' (1986), married Noelene Edwards twice. They exchanged their first wedding vows in 1958, and the marriage lasted until 1981.

The following year, in 1982, they decided to marry again, but their second marriage would only keep them together for a few years until their final divorce in 1990.

For two people to be married twice, they don't always have to be divorced in between! This was the case of Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti, who married for the first time in 1957 by proxy in Mexico. At first, the two were forced to deny it because, in Italy, Ponti was still legally married to Giuliana Fiastri (divorce was not yet allowed in Italy).

Eventually, however, the producer managed to obtain a divorce in 1965 in France and so, in 1966, Loren and Ponti were finally able to get married. Their great love story lasted until Ponti's death in 2007.
