The Downey legacy

Indio Downey is the son of one of Hollywood's biggest stars, Robert Downey Jr. Like his dad, he has had some serious run-ins with the law.

A story of overcoming problems (part 2!)

Both father and son have shown problematic overindulging in pleasures and had issues with dissipation. But, in both their cases, these issues have been straightened out.

Indio Falconer Downey - is it in the genes?

Perhaps it could be genetics that caused both father and son to follow a similar path. Let's take a look at Indio Downey's story.

Inherited his father's looks and talent

Born in 1993, the young man inherited his father's good looks and talent.

A compromised inheritance

Unfortunately, he also seems to have inherited his tendency for addictions to unhealthy substances.

Early arrest

These addictions led to a very young Indio Falconer being arrested in 2014 for the possession of substances. He was 20 years old when police caught him with a significant amount of drugs for personal use.

Released on bail

Indio Falconer was released a few hours later, after his father paid the $10,000 bail fee, TMZ reported at the time.

"Genetic component"

Robert Downey Jr. himself tried to apologise to his son, saying that he had gone through the same thing not too long ago. He blamed Indio's problems "on the genetic component of addictions that my son has probably inherited," he said in a statement released a few days later.

United Downing family

In the statement, Robert Downey Jr. said his entire family was "determined to be with him and help him become the man he can be."

Hoping for success in recovery

In passing, he thanked the police for their handling of his son's arrest, hoping that Indio Falconer's stumble was but a first step towards "another successful recovery story."

Several relapses and sobriety

And, things being what they are, he was right. After several detox and rehab clinics, and the occasional relapse, the young Indio Falconer found in music the motivation he needed to leave his addictions behind.

Film wasn't his thing but...

After trying his hand in film at the age of 9, in Shane Black's 'Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang' along with his own father, Indio Falconer knew that cinema was not for him.

His band: The Dose?

Years later, the young man has formed his own band, together with his best friend Ralph Alexander. In a striking move, he has named the band 'The Dose.'

Slowed down by Covid

Critics and audiences surrendered to Indio Falconer's talent. In fact, the band accompanied 'Good Charlotte' on an international tour and played a handful of concerts. As far as the pandemic allowed them, of course.

Singer of 'The Dose'

Meanwhile, those who arrive at The Dose concerts, unaware that Indio Falconer is Robert Downey Jr's son, are amazed at the resemblance between father and son when they discover his true identity.

Father and fan

Robert Downey Jr. is the first to support his son at concerts and events, whenever his schedule allows it. The actor makes a public showing of it.

A self-confessed 'groupie'

The 'Iron Man' actor has even used his Instagram account to declare himself a 'groupie' of the band.

The best support a dad can give

Nor was he shy about informing his more than 50 million Instagram followers that 'The Dose' had released their first album in March 2019. If this isn't superheroic promotion, let Iron Man come and disprove it.
