Jamie Foxx's first words since hospitalization for mystery illness
After being hospitalized due to an undisclosed "medical complication" on April 11, Jamie Foxx has spoken in public for the first time.
Through his Instagram account, Jamie expressed his gratitude. "Appreciate all the love!!! feeling blessed." Yet, he is not well enough to leave the hospital, his family told TMZ.
The actor and TV host especially thanked Nick Cannon and Kelly Osbourne in his message. They will be covering for him on the 'Beat Shazam' game show that he was supposed to host with his daughter Corinne.
Since 2017, father and daughter have been working together on the Fox TV show where contestants have to guess songs as fast as possible. Jamie Foxx is the executive producer and Corinne Fox serves as DJ. Or, at least, they were until Jamie got sick.
"Thank you so much @nickcannon and @kellyosbourne for filling in this season!" Corinne will also be off the show now that her father is ill. Kelly Osbourne is replacing her.
Meanwhile, the movie he was shooting for Netflix, 'Back in Action,' has resumed filming. It is using doubles to stand in for the actor, the streaming service declared.
Although his relatives have reported that Jamie Foxx is better than before, even joking with his family, he is not yet ready to be released from the hospital.
The actor had a serious health scare on April 11. As TMZ reported, his mystery illness was so serious that family members had traveled from out of town to see him in the hospital.
"We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday," his daughter Corinne declared on Instagram on the evening of April 12.
"Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery," Corinne added.
The 55-year-old actor was urgently hospitalized on April 12 while working on his new project.
The medical emergency happened in Atlanta, in the middle of filming 'Back in Action', the new movie that the actor is shooting with Cameron Diaz and Glenn Close.
Jamie Foxx had a meltdown on set, according to MailOnline. It seems the actor was extremely unhappy with how some things in the production of the Netflix comedy 'Back in Action' were being managed.
It led to four staff members being sacked and the set thrown 'into chaos', according to The Sun.
The Sun quoted a source who reported: "There have been some issues on set and Jamie has had a major meltdown over it all."
"He demanded the problems be sorted immediately and sacked four of the production staff — as if that would magically improve the situation," the insider continues. Those sacked were an executive producer, an assistant director, a unit director, and Jamie Foxx's driver, according to The Sun.
The source added: "Some people working on it are totally fed up with how this has played out and Jamie has become pretty unpopular."

This is not the first time the Oscar-winning actor has struggled to deal with setbacks. His professional career has launched him to the very top, but behind the success, the actor has had to deal with a lot of drama and now, potential health problems are being added to the mix.
Shortly after the incident, Corinne Fox told the world part of what happened, through her Instagram.

Despite confirming that Jamie Foxx is already improving, Corinne Fox has not offered up any details about the illness that the Oscar-winning actor has faced.
"We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time," Corinne Fox's Instagram missive concludes.
TMZ claims to have spoken to direct sources who, although they have not revealed what happened, gave a few details of what went on. "We're told his condition was serious enough that Jamie's family - some of whom were not in town - came to the hospital," it said.
Hours later, the same sources confirmed to TMZ that the actor was now "communicating and that's good news."
Pending further details, it appears that the critical moment has passed and that Jamie Foxx's situation is not as critical as when he arrived at the hospital.
In fact, TMZ reports that the actor has undergone all kinds of tests, not only to see what had happened, but also to rule out any graver underlying conditions.
What this complicated time has made clear is how close the Foxx Family is and the special relationship Jamie Foxx has with his daughter Corinne.
In addition to the father/daughter bond, the two have shared and continue to share several joint projects. Besides 'Beat Shazam,' there are also acting gigs they shared.
In 2021, they also both starred in 'Dad Stop Embarrassing Me', produced and scripted by Corinne Fox and starring her father. After this week's news, however, it seems as though they will have to wait a while for their next joint project.
