Of course, the series' brilliance indirectly benefited the 'Scream' saga. Many fans of the actress wanted to see Jenna Ortega playing Tara Carpenter, both in 'Scream' (2022) and 'Scream VI' (2023).
Well, Deadline has confirmed that the leading lady and star of the revamped saga will not be in the third contemporary installment, 'Scream 7' due to scheduling issues.
In principle, the aforementioned media points out that the shooting of the next season of 'Wednesday' will begin in April 2024, as well as the sequel to 'Beetlejuice'. Looking at the scheduling, it may indeed leave her without time for the teenager fear saga.

But one cannot escape the coincidence that Jenna Ortega has left the project after Melissa Barrera (on the right in the photo), her sister 'Sam Carpenter' in the franchise, was fired.
Melissa Barrera was fired from 'Scream 7' and the reason given was clear. It was all down to the actress' support given to Palestine, in the conflict with Israel, as reported by 'Variety'.
"We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech", the production company's statement noted.
Melissa Barrera had referred to Israel as a "colonized land", in addition to suggesting that Jews control Hollywood and the information on their social networks. ""Western media only shows" the Israeli side, she went so far as to comment in a now-deleted Instagram post.
Hours after Spyglass' decision, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera's close friend, made her decision to walk away from the franchise. Media have approached Ortega for comment on the coincidence.

Faced with such a situation, Melissa Barrera has reacted with Instagram stories where she tells the public what she assumes what happened. "At the end of the day, I'd rather be excluded for who I include than be included for who I exclude". A statement that continued with an extensive feeling about the situation.

Barrera has not been the only one who has reacted on social networks, as the director of 'Scream 7', Christopher Landon, has also shown his discomfort with what happened through a social media post.
"This is my statement: Everything sucks. Stop yelling. This was not my decision to make,” punctuated with a broken-heart emoji, the director wrote.

Thus, 'Scream 7', scheduled for late 2024, will either have to be completely rewritten or find two new leads. Needless to say, for many, Jenna Ortega was the shining star of the current saga.
Undoubtedly, the title of the franchise seems to be a perfect for what many involved in the project will want to do...
