Before ‘Beef’, Steven Yeun was known for his work as Glenn Rhee in the critically acclaimed AMC cult classic, ‘The Walking Dead’. Afterward, he starred in films like ‘Minari’ and ‘Okja’.
In February 2023, Deadline reported that Steven Yeun was cast in Marvel’s 'Thunderbolts'. Although the specific role was not revealed yet, Deadline reported that the role was to be a long-term one that would be important in subsequent Marvel films.
Robert Kirkman, the creator of the 'Walking Dead' comic book series and a close personal friend of Steven Yuen, revealed that Steven Yeun would be playing the superhero, Sentry, in an unintentional spoiler.
According to The Marvel Encyclopedia, Sentry is a middle-aged superhero with “the power of one million exploding suns” from being injected with a super-soldier serum. He eventually joins the Avengers in later parts of the comic series.

However, in January 2024 the LA Times reported that Steven Yeun had chosen to drop out of the role in solidarity with the 2023 Hollywood labor strike.
Of course, Sentry will still be in ‘Thunderbolts’. Deadline reports that Marvel Studios swiftly moved to organise talks with actor Lewis Pullman to replace Steven Yeun in the role.
Lewis Pullman is a second-generation American actor following in the footsteps of his father, actor Bill Pullman.
You might have spotted him in works such as ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’, and ‘Lessons in Chemistry’.
Lewis Pullman’s acting stands out in his own right, as he has been nominated for several acting awards for his work in supporting roles, such as the 2019 Saturn Awards for ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’.
Screen Rant has since confirmed Lewis Pullman's role as Sentry. It will be his biggest acting role to date, given the significance of Sentry's role in the Marvel Universe. This will be quite the jump for his career, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out.
