Nicola Peltz sues groomer over death of her chihuahua
Brooklyn Beckham's wife and billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz is devastated. She took her dog, a Chihuahua named Nala, to a dog groomer and two hours later the animal died. What happened in that hair salon?
The actress and model was strongly attached to her pet. She has taken legal action against the hairdresser, Jony Ceballos, the owner of the establishment, Deborah Gittleman, and the company HoundSpa LLC.

Nicola Peltz has filed the lawsuit in the State Supreme Court in Westchester County, New York, accusing the hairdresser, Jony Ceballos, of "intentional and malicious abuse." People magazine has access to the court documents and quotes from them.
The actress blames the company and its owner for their treatment of the groomer before and after the incident. They should have fired him long ago, she states, because of a "history of complaints" he accumulated, many of them involving animal abuse.
On Instagram, Nicola Peltz recounted the horrible day her dog died. Nala "died just two hours after" she was treated by Jony Ceballos, she wrote. The dog had been treated in the mobile van where the hair salon is located, right in front of the plaintiff's house.

The incident occurred on June 15, 2024. According to the model, Nala died from the injuries and the serious overall condition she was in when she left the hair salon.

"Nala entered the van happy and in good health but came out injured, with physical problems, breathing hard and with her chest heaving," the complaint states.

Nicola Peltz claims that she took Nala to a veterinarian 15 minutes away by car, where they saw that "she had a blue tongue, fluid in her lungs and neurological damage."

The plaintiff recalls seeing her dog die before her eyes and claims to have suffered "damage and emotional distress" since her death. That's why she filed a lawsuit.

After more than a month and a half, Nicola Peltz says she is still "in a state of shock and pain over the death of her baby, after what should have been a routine grooming session."

The goal of the lawsuit, it states, is to "find those responsible and shed light on the lack of protection for pet owners and their beloved animals."

After sharing her story on Instagram, many followers told her about their own experiences. Peltz responded that she was "outraged to hear how common stories like Nala's are."

So now, a new path opens in the case of Nala, who will have to wait a little to truly rest in peace.
