Mickey 17

In Bong Joon-Ho's upcoming film, 'Mickey 17' (based on the novel 'Mickey7'), Robert Pattinson plays a clone that is easily expendable and therefore used on dangerous tasks in the movie version of Edward Ashton's novel.

Robert meets Robert

Although production on the film is all wrapped up, little is known about the plot. However, online reports such as 'Curiosity Central' say that Pattinson will come face to face with one of his clones and things get complicated.

Not a traditional Hollywood path

Pattinson has appeared in conventional movies and Blockbusters, but the actor prefers the challenge of different and complex characters to that of a mainstream leading man.

The changing faces of Robert Pattinson

Is Robert Pattinson one of the most adaptable actors in the business? We think so. He stepped into the shoes of 'The Batman' with ease. So let's take a look back at all the challenges - and faces - he has taken on over the years, changing and adapting to the films and the characters he plays. And let's not forget a detailed analysis of that hair. We start at the beginning.

Sword of Xanten (2004)

'Sword of Xanten' was a German TV Movie and it was Robert Pattinson's debut. Unfortunately for him, his scenes were deleted and he only appears in the DVD edition. He was 18 years old.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)

In the fourth film of the Harry Potter saga, Pattinson plays Cedric Diggory, a Hufflepuff student and a young wizard who was Hogwarts' champion of the Triwizard Tournament.

Twilight (2008)

Robert Pattinson got the part to play Edward Cullen by entering the casting call with his hair exactly the same as he would have it in the film. That decision changed his life. His chemistry with Kristen Stewart had a huge affect on a wide audience and launched the actor to stardom. He was 22 years old.

Little Ashes (2008)

A Spanish-British film about the relationship between the painter Salvador Dalí, played by Robert Pattinson, and the poet Federico García Lorca. The actor didn't actually look all that bad with Dalí's famous moustache decorating his face.

How to Be (2008)

'How to Be' is a British film where Pattinson grows his hair a little longer than normal. Sporting a more casual look, Robert Pattinson plays a young man who finds himself without a job and without a girlfriend then decides to return to his parents' house. With a much scruffier style, sporting a beard and a tousled hairdo, Robert Pattinson was already beginning to announce where his career would go after Twilight.

Twilight: New Moon (2009)

With Edward Cullen becoming one of the world's favourite characters, the Twilight Saga was a global phenomenon that just kept growing and growing. At the time, the actor was 23 years old.

Remember Me (2010)

Robert Pattinson plays Tyler Hawkins, a young man whose relationship with his father is not the best after an unexpected family drama. In the midst of the Twilight saga, the actor's hair was non-negotiable for other projects. A contract is a contract.

Twilight: Eclipse (2010)

The third film in the Twilight Saga. This time, as in the previous instalment, Pattinson took home a 'mere' 25 million dollars for his work. The film made almost 700 million dollars.

Water for Elephants (2011)

The chemistry with Reese Witherspoon was almost bigger than that with Kristen Stewart. Robert Pattinson was working, little by little, to shake off the stigma as the eternal Edward Cullen. For the moment, it was clear that he had talent to spare, and that at the age of 25.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011)

The Twilight Saga was approaching its final climax and Robert Pattinson was among the top Hollywood stars in the world. And, of course, everyone was searching the net for tips on how to get their hair as artfully disheveled and tousled as Pattinson.

Bel Ami (2012)

At the age of 26, Robert Pattinson really went against the expected. Despite not being a typical heartthrob, the actor had no qualms about playing George Suroy, a seducer who arrives in Paris with no money but with enough wit to survive on the backs of his conquests. He pulled it off brilliantly.

Cosmopolis (2012)

After almost five years of playing Edward Cullen, the actor had filmed the end of the Twilight saga and could now finally cut his hair. He did so to play Eric Packer, a 28-year-old millionaire. He may have had a hard time getting into the role though.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012)

Robert Pattinson said goodbye to Edward Cullen for good with the saga's highest-grossing instalment: $829 million. In total, the actor pocketed an astonishing, estimated 78 million dollars from the saga.

The Rover (2014)

After a two-year break (with some moody Dior modelling in-between), Robert Pattinson began his race to leave Edward Cullen behind. He started with an Australian western set in a dystopian future after a global economic collapse, sharing the lead role with Guy Ritchie. Not bad. And he completely shaved his hair.

Maps to the Stars (2014)

Short hair, tailor-made suit and all about Hollywood, this film was another box-office flop. The film industry was starting to look dark and cold beyond 'Twilight,' but Robert Pattinson had the courage to keep trying out more independent titles.

Queen of the Desert (2015)

And from one 'failure' to another. On the verge of turning 30, he agreed to share the lead role with Nicole Kidman. Despite this incredible pairing, the film flopped miserably. It cost 30 million dollars and grossed only two million.

The Lost City of Z (2015)

Edward Cullen moved on. Robert Pattinson sported a beard, for the first time on screen, as well as a more muscular body. His Henry Costin is pure testosterone - a more mature version of the boyish Pattinson we were used to. He was proving himself to be a real chameleon of the screen.

The Childhood of a Leader (2015)

Robert Pattinson went for yet another genre and another challenge of a role. He stepped into a historic character, set after the end of the First World War.

Good Time (2017)

For the critics, one of Robert Pattinson's best performances came as Connie, a thief who aspires to rob a bank with the help of his brother. He does look a little 'Targaryen' in this one.

Fear & Shame (2017)

The short film where Robert Pattinson showed the world he has a sense of humor. A two-minute short film showing the pressure of being famous.

High Life (2018)

Another genre - a horror film - and Robert Pattinson shows his most tender side, playing a survivor of a group of death row inmates who travel in a spaceship and are left in charge of a baby. Now Pattinson sports a space suit.

Damsel (2018)

A very small film, which grossed just over 300,000 dollars, it allowed us to see an unkempt, goateed Robert Pattinson cross half of the United States to marry Mia Wasikowska.

The Lighthouse (2019)

'The Lighthouse' could have given the actor a possible Oscar nomination. He didn't make it, but his name was already in the air. His character faces the challenges of living alone on a remote, deserted island. And all with a gaunt face and an XXL moustache.

Photo: A24

The King (2019)

And Robert Pattinson went back to blonde at the hands of Shakespeare and Netflix, who cast him as The Dauphin to Henry IV of England. Add Shakespeare to his list. Is there anything he can't (and won't) do?

Photo: Netflix

Tenet (2020)

Robert Pattinson in a sci-fi movie? Why not? From being a vampire to time travel, the line is pretty fine anyway. Besides, at 34, he's ready for any role he's given. As of today, it's argued he is one of the best actors of his generation.

The Batman

And, of course, 2022 brought the eagerly anticipated 'The Batman' with Robert Pattinson leading the cast. It is yet another, completely different project but entirely suited for this versatile actor. We can't wait to see what 2024 brings.
