Sofía Vergara claps back when sued for 1.7 million
After her unexpected divorce, Sofía Vergara is once again in the eye of the hurricane. This time, she finds herself in the middle of a legal dispute.
The Colombian star was sued by a contractor for allegedly not paying enough for a large renovation carried out on her luxurious mansion in Beverly Hills. The missing amount, according to the contractor, was 1.7 million.
However, the actress's lawyer, Marty Singer, states that Sofía Vergara actually sued the company first.
According to the contractor's lawsuit, obtained by the TMZ site, Sofía hired Reside Custom Homes in April 2022 to perform construction work on her $26 million mansion in the Beverly Park neighborhood.
The company claims that the actress agreed to pay for the work plus the contractor's fees but ultimately reneged on the agreement.
Reside Custom Homes notes that the project was completed in December 2022. Then, however, the 'Modern Family' actress asked for significant additional work beyond the scope of the agreement. It ended up extending the work until March 2023, when Sofia finally returned to the house.
Among the things Sofia asked the company to do was to install clay plaster in three powder rooms, an office, the walls of the dining room, the cabin bathroom, and the living room of the guest house. She also wanted the company to remove and replace a flight of stairs.
Reside Custom Homes claims that they financed the additional work to finish the improvements and that the actress promised to pay that bill. Allegedly, she even told the company that she had approved one of the bills for almost $900,000 and that she had already instructed her accountant to pay it.
After those promises, the company says Vergara never complied. It claims that she now owes them $1,700,492.64.
On the other side of the feud, the actress's lawyer told TMZ that Vergara was the one who first presented a lawsuit to Reside Custom Homes instead. She did so on October 4.
Sofía Vergara indicated in the court document that the company was responsible for $5 million in damages due to overcharging, performing poor work, and delaying the project.
Her attorney claimed that, even though Reside Custom Homes never disputed the claims, it has now filed its own lawsuit.
Despite the huge claims of the constructor, the lawyer indicates that he is confident that Sofía will win and receive a significant payment from Reside Custom Homes.
Sadly, these cases tend to last a long time to get resolved. Only time and the authorities will decide the outcome of this conflict of millions of dollars...

For most of us, 1.7 million dollars is a giant amount of money. We can hardly imagine being sued for such a large sum.
But Sofía Vergara has a net worth of approximately 180 million dollars, specialized media like Celebrity Net Worth estimate.
She was said to make half a million dollars per 'Modern Family' episode by the end of the series. Therefore, a claim of approximately three or four 'Modern Family' episodes doesn't appear to be so high for Sofía Vergara after all.
