Taylor Swift: a billionaire thanks to 'The Eras Tour'?
There is no doubt that in recent years Taylor Swift has become one of the artists with more power, presence, and relevance in the music industry. This obviously usually translates into money, but how much exactly?
According to Forbes, Taylor Swift had a net worth of 570 million dollars at the end of 2022.
The good news for the artist is that throughout 2023 she is expected to double those numbers and become a billionaire.
After more than 5 years without giving a concert, on March 17, 2023, Taylor Swift will begin her new tour in Glendale (Arizona): 'The Eras Tour'.
It was supposed to be a 27-concert tour but ended up increasing to 52 dates, just in the United States.
In fact, 'The Eras Tour' will have Taylor Swift touring around the country until August 9, when she has scheduled her last concert (for the time being) in Inglewood, California.
According to Ticketmaster, the entrance for the 52 concerts has surpassed two million tickets.
With these numbers, specialized media outlets state that 'The Eras Tour' could be the most profitable tour in history, which could break even more records if it is confirmed that the tour will continue outside the United States.
For now, Forbes estimates that only with ticket sales, 'The Eras Tour' would generate 591 million dollars in benefits.
The total amount of profits would reach 620 million dollars after considering the usual amount of merchandising sold in the concerts.
To these numbers, we need to deduct approximately 13 million dollars corresponding to Ticketmaster. However, the artist is not happy with how the website has managed the ticket sale and the consequent resale. Many Swifties, aka Taylor's fans, have complained about the pre-sale, ticket prices, and virtual waiting lines.
In fact, first-row tickets for some concerts have been purchased at 76.000 dollars in resale. Unreal!
Tour's earnings will also be destined to taxes, salaries, renting the concert venues, accommodation, meals, and other expenses.
So taking all of that into account, according to Forbes, 'The Eras Tour' would make Taylor Swift around 465 to 496 million dollars.
Even if we go low, 465 million dollars would be added to the artist's net worth (570 million dollars), which means that Taylor Swift is undoubtedly becoming a new billionaire.
Again, we have to bear in mind the possibility that 'The Eras Tour' continues outside of U.S. borders and transforms into a world tour. And with that, there's no doubt that Taylor Swift will be making history.
