The amazing red carpet of 'Furiosa' at Cannes 2024
'Furiosa: a Mad Max Saga' has landed at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in all its glory. If the critiques of the film were ambivalent, those of the stars' looks on the red carpet left no room for doubt: pure glamour.
In recent appearances, she leaned towards decidedly bolder looks, but for the French Festival, Anja Taylor-Joy chose the elegance and sobriety of a beige dress. The Dior gown was enlivened by the (wonderful) Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
The photographers' flashes were also for 'Furiosa' co-star Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky. The Australian actor appears to be fond of the white tuxedo jacket (he had already worn it at the MET Gala) - could it be his new style?
And then there's the eternally beautiful Naomi, ready to demonstrate to the world that only she can wear a Chanel Couture dress even better than when she wore it for the first time on the catwalks 27 years ago.
From one fantastic look to another: the spectacular black dress with a very long train and dizzying slit worn by Iris Mittenaere, former Miss France and Miss Universe. Signed by Stephane Rolland, the dress is a sartorial marvel. It features a maxi golden metallic decoration that fully responds to the stylistic dictates of Cannes: elegance yes, boredom no.
One of Prada's loyalists and one of the most elegant of the evening was director Baz Luhrmann, wearing an impeccably cut tuxedo and moccasins with rubber soles. But have you seen the detail of the flowers on the collar of the jacket? Adorable.
Greta Gerwig and Eva Green, respectively president and member of the jury of the Cannes Film Festival, walked the red carpet together and did so with a look faithful to their style. For the American actress, there was a red dress with a significant neckline, designed by Armani Privé, while the French star wore a black dress by Balmain. On one thing they agreed: Chopard jewels.
Chopard jewels also adorned and completed the look of top model Cindy Bruna, designed by Laruicci: a 'complicated' ensemble with a long skirt and striped overcoat, all in a maxi version and with a contemporary cut. Perhaps more suitable for an everyday look than for an evening on the Croisette?
From Cindy Bruna's stripes, we move on to the sequins and embroidery of the dress chosen by Maria Borges. She played it safe (maybe a little too much) with the black and lingerie dress, but then again, why overdo it? Her jewelry bears the signature of Pomellato.
If you were looking for a theatrical look, there it is. The French model's white dress has a mermaid cut and a skirt that resembles a cloud. In short, it's a dress that can be worn by very few people.
This look appeals to all fashion enthusiasts. If we don't want to talk about the Armani Privé pulled from the archives of 2006, how can we not comment on the incredible (INCREDIBLE!) diamond necklace with ivy leaves by Boucheron? A work of art.
Like Greta Gerwig, Indonesian star Putri Marino also opts for red on the red carpet. And she does it very well: the Stellarissa dress with the brooch detail on the draping is worthy of being remembered as one of the most beautiful of the evening.
A futuristic dress, and certainly a truly commendable work of tailoring. Do we want to add anything else? Better not.
Lots of black, lots of white, lots of red... And finally, we see an emerald green dress! With sequins and statement straps, Jessica Serfaty Michel wears it with extreme elegance.
You're sadly mistaken if you expect Cannes to be all glitter and sequins. The maxi shirt-maxi skirt ensemble worn by Vicky Krieps will probably not be too popular, but the actress seems at ease and looks radiant. Would it have been the same if she had worn a more popular dress?
And if we're talking about popularity, one of France's most famous influencers makes her appearance on the red carpet in an outfit that probably doesn't achieve the glamorous goal that Romane Bertrand had set for herself.
But we must always remember that fashion can also be a way of having fun. It should not always be taken so seriously. The protagonists of the French reality show Drag Rage France (from left, Daphne Burky, Kiddy Smile, and Nicky Doll) demonstrate it to you on the 'Furiosa' red carpet.
