'The Birds' real-life sequel: Did Hitchcock predict this terrifying behavior?
In 2023, the world marked 60 years since Alfred Hitchcock’s 'The Birds' premiered. It was one of the most significant films in film history, pioneering a genre of horror based on catastrophes and plagues.
There’s a lesser-known anecdote from the master’s film. It’s his only one that doesn’t end with the 'The End.' They say Hitchcock wanted to convey enduring terror, without an end… Was it a prophecy of what was yet to come?
Indeed, 60 years after the film, reality has become stranger than fiction. Birds' peculiar behavior worldwide has experts on alert. What’s happening?
Just like in Hitchcock’s movie, birds are more and more the stars of real-life horror stories, with attacks terrorizing populations and fueling all sorts of unsettling theories.
Many animals react to environmental changes before a natural disaster. Recently, the behavior of crows worldwide has become particularly concerning. Could it be a reaction to something impending?
The unusual behavior of crows around the globe raises alarms about a possible major natural disaster.
Japan boasts one of the highest crow populations worldwide. Thus, it’s no surprise that a video from Kyoto has driven social media wild.
The clip shows thousands of crows covering the ground and cars en masse, unusual for birds that typically prefer higher altitudes. They are so numerous that the sound of their cawing is terrifying.
This bizarre crow behavior has led many internet users to start speculating that it “could be an omen.” What's for sure is that in different traditional cultures around the world, crows and ravens are considered signs of good or bad luck.
Far from Japan, is the town of Peñaullán, in the Spanish region of Asturias. Much to the horror of residents, it has reported a plague of violent bird attacks right out of the horror film for months in 2023.
The townspeople (pictured) endure the violent attacks of jackdaws, a bird from the crow family. Regularly, at dawn, flocks of birds madly crash into house and car windows, so severely that they crack windows and leave streaks of blood (pictured). One local even had to get his car repainted due to the damage.

People are terrified and confused about what's happening. The gruesome bombardments started when the birds were protecting their young, which was a theory but has continued to endure long after. Residents speculate that it might be that they are going after food, even though there is plenty of fruit on the trees and other morsels available as usual.

The birds have gone mad in the Spanish town just like in Hitchcock’s horror movie. Local press report that Peñaullán has turned into Bodega Bay, the Californian town overrun by birds in the British filmmaker’s Hollywood piece.
Moments before the devastating earthquake in Turkey in February 2023, a video about birds, taken in the early hours of the previous day, went viral. Its content shocked users worldwide.
In the video, hundreds of birds are seen flying in circles and chirping frantically, alerting Turkish citizens who were yet unaware of the impending catastrophe. Perhaps the birds knew what was about to happen?
At least 15 minutes before the earthquake that struck Oklahoma in 2016, according to The Washington Post, birds flew in such large numbers that radars detected thousands of them in the air at the same time.
Scientific research supports the theory that animals are better equipped to feel the earth's subtle tremors seconds before seismic waves begin, much like seismological machines.
Strange phenomena have been happening for years. In 2022, chilling footage caused a stir on social media, showing hundreds of yellow-headed blackbirds simultaneously dropping dead mid-flight in the state of Chihuahua (Mexico).
Increasingly, seagull attacks on people have been documented in cities like Barcelona, where carrying umbrellas in cemeteries to ward off pecks is now recommended. Could a lack of food be driving them to this odd behavior... or is it something else?
Crows, rooks, ravens and jackdaws are often considered harbingers of death or bad luck. But could it be the other way around? More and more animals seem to be trying to tell us something with their strange behavior. Maybe they’re warning us of something significant that we’re unable to see.
The terror continues just like in the movie 'The Birds.' And unfortunately, fact is scarier than fiction. Climate change is causing many species to disappear. And what will happen if birds go extinct? We'll be left at the mercy of insects, rodents, and pests that birds usually feed on. Now that’s truly frightening.
To be continued...
