Marvel’s Moon Knight hit the small screen for the first time at the end of March. Every Wednesday, a new episode arrives on Disney Plus. Do the characters confuse you? We get it! Here is a beginners guide to Moon Knight and a who’s who of the marvellous and confusing new Marvel series on Disney Plus.

Moon Knight is an Egyptian god of the moon called Khonshu, more importantly he is also the God of vengeance. He choses a human that he considers worthy to take the form of Moon Knight because he is unable to enter the realm of earth himself.

Moon Knight has the power to drain another persons life energy through physical contact and gives the host extra powers during full moons. Enhanced brain activity, healing abilities and night vision, among others.

Two different personalities in the series are played by the American actor Oscar Isaac. He is both Moon Knight (Marc Spector) and Mr. Knight (Steven Grant).

Some people refer to Marc Spector as the host of several characters. He's an ex-marine turned mercenary, highly trained in combat. After losing a fight to a fellow (but evil) mercenary, he is left for dead. Fortunately, though, he is taken to a statue of the moon god of vengeance, who then uses Marc’s body as its host.

This character is a quiet museum gift-shop employee. Interestingly, in the comic books he is a successful business man and somewhat of a Playboy. It is possible Disney changed this idea because the character was so similar to 'Batman' and appeared around the same time as the new Robert Pattinson blockbuster.

Due to the relocation of filming from New York to London, Oscar Isaac added the British accent to the character himself. It’s not bad, but he does tend to lose the accent occasionally.

Steven Grant's alter ego is Mr. Knight: a calmer and more sophisticated character that the flamboyant Moon Knight. He is a more down to earth character and he focuses more on the detective side of the battle.

Another of Marc’s identities is this 'man on the street' for Moon Knight. He has his ears and eyes on the ground and is capable of getting information that is otherwise difficult to obtain.

Played by Ethan Hawke, Harrow is a cult-like leader who has the power of another Egyptian God, ‘Ammit'. He judges people in the hardest possible way, whether they have been - or are going to be - good or bad.

After being in the marines, and having become a soldier for hire, Marc made friends and became partners with Frenchie Douchamp. This was in the time before he got his Moon Knight powers.

Raoul Bushman is an associate from Marc’s mercenary days. He is a bad man who enjoys violence. He's also the one who left Marc for dead after killing an archaeologist and trying to kill his daughter. That won't be the last we see of Bushman, though.

After a typically awful day, Steven comes home to find a hidden phone. On it, he sees that a person named Layla has called him multiple times. While he is checking the phone, it starts to ring - it’s Layla calling again.

When Steven answers the phone, Layla is confused. She refers to him as Marc, his alter ego, and she cannot understand why he is speaking with a British accent all of a sudden. Clearly, Oscar Isaac's character consists of very different, multiple personalities.

Like 'Batman', Moon Knight loves his gadgets. He has a glider cloak, a wonderful array of darts, an energy shield and, of course, all the toys that come within the suit.

At the beginning of the series, Marc appears to be struggling with mental health problems - perhaps a personality disorder. But soon enough, it becomes clear that perhaps, instead of a disorder, his problems are the consequence of Marc being the host to the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.

Khonshu is played by Karim El Hakim (photo) with the voice of another actor, the Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham. The god is believed to have four aspects: Defender, Embracer, Pathfinder and the Watcher of overnight travellers.

Disney's version of 'Moon Knight' strays far from the original comics. This makes it hard to predict what will happen in the series, and that's exactly what makes it so exciting.
