The growing list of celebrities who died from cosmetic surgery
Luana Andrade, 29, died after a liposuction procedure on her knee, her family announced in November. The model, influencer and reality star went into cardiac arrest about two and a half hours after the surgery, devasting her friends, family and fans.
"I am torn apart and living my biggest nightmare," her boyfriend of two years, Joao Hadad (shown), wrote on Instagram. Meanwhile, surfer Gabriel Medina was outraged. "Today I lost a friend due to "simple" aesthetic procedures. This standard of "perfect" bodies that are impossible to achieve displayed on Instagram and in the media needs to end urgently. We are young, we have several other ways of feeling good, healthy and beautiful. This fake world will end up killing more and more young people," he wrote.

32-year-old MTV Star Jacky Oh went to Miami for a Brazilian B u t t Lift in May 2023 and never came home. She was best known for her role on the ‘Wild ‘N Out’ sketch comedy and rap show and had three young kids with her partner DC Young Fly.

One of Brazil’s most influential models and influencers died in 2023 at the age of 40 after several complications from cosmetic surgery. She had silicone and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) injected into her b u t t o c k s to make them bigger.

The mother of two young boys went into intensive care after the surgery in a sketchy clinic before her condition worsened and she died of a stroke. “She got into a very toxic, perfection-seeking environment,” her brother told Revista Quem. “She tried to adapt to this aesthetic standard and started having several procedures (due to her) work. The internet is a world apart.”

The wife of country music legend Hank Williams died in 2022 after undergoing a liposuction and procedure to remove implants in Florida, USA Today reports. She was released from the hospital and the next day she suddenly became unresponsive and died at the age of 58.

Shortly after her death, People reported that a 50-year-old woman was arrested in Florida and charged with involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license in relation to Ashten’s death. While she may be best known for being Kayne West’s mother, Donda was an American educator and chair of the Chicago State University’s English Department. She died in 2007 at the age of 58 after undergoing liposuction and a breast reduction.
The autopsy revealed that she had died of coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors from cosmetic surgery. In 2009, California legislation named after her went into effect making it mandatory for patients to get doctor’s approval before cosmetic surgery. Her son has said he feels guilty for her death. “She would still be alive if I had never moved to Los Angeles,” West told Q Magazine.
This Argentine model and actress, who first gained fame for being on Big Brother 2 in her home country, died at the age of 43. She had been suffering from health issues for years after getting cosmetic surgery to enlarge her b u t t o c k s in 2011.

She blamed her cosmetic surgeon Anibal Lotock for causing her health problems by using methacrylate for the surgery. By 2015, she was on dialysis and she died in 2023 while awaiting a kidney transplant.

This famous Argentine stylist and TV host died, at age 49, just a couple of weeks before Silvina Luna. He had also been a patient of her same plastic surgeon — Anibal Lotock, who is facing prosecution for malpractice. The doctor Sergio Rossaroli told CNN Argentina that his death was also caused by a methacrylate injection, which is an extremely dangerous substance that should not be used.

The author of 'The First Wives Club' died in 2004 from complications from anesthesia for a chin tuck when she was 54 years old. Her debut novel became a hit movie in 1996.
The novelist touched on Botox and plastic surgery throughout her works, and according to New York Magazine, she had several procedures with the same doctor before the one that killed her. “To Goldsmith, the procedure was no big deal, a laugh line,” reports the magazine.
The singer of ‘You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) died when he was 57 from massive cardiac arrest. While it was never explicitly said that his death was related to cosmetic procedures, he had more than 300 and was suffering from myriad related health problems.

Just weeks before his death in 2016, he openly discussed his surgeries and the tolls they had taken on his body on ‘Celebrity Botched Up Bodies.’ In it, he said he nearly died from blood clots and embolisms and how he needed parts of his stomach grafted on his lips to fix a bad lip procedure. “I’m Frankenstein ... People might think I’m the ugliest—- alive but I’m very pleased and I want to maintain this,” he said.

In 2009, this former Miss Argentina died when she was just 38 years old, after traveling to Buenos Aires for b u m implants. She had just launched her own modeling agency and had twins.
Her close friend and fashion designer Roberto Piazza said that as she aged, she had been growing concerned with her looks and wanted to get rid of her cellulite. “Solange was a girl who had everything. She lived the life of a goddess, she was the envy of everybody,” he said, according to the Daily Mail. “Now she is dead because she wanted a slightly firmer behind.”
