A curious confession

But why did Tom Holland go five years without paying for water? He himself explained it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Five years without paying for water

"I found out that I wasn’t paying my water bill for five years," he revealed in the interview. How did he get away with that?

'I thought it was free'

The reason he didn't pay his water bill? As the Spider-Man actor says: "I didn’t know you had to do that. I just thought that water was free in England."

A little confused...

Perhaps it was that absent-minded and innocent air of the actor that enabled him to bring Peter Parker to life so well. A millennial Peter Parker who has nothing to do with other Spider-Men of the past.

New 'Spider-Man' movie?

In the same, revealing interview, Holland also spoke about the possibility of putting on the Spider-Man suit again. It could be sooner than fans think.

Active conversations

"All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character. Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing."

'Protective over 'Spider-Man'

However, Tom Holland won't make another movie just to make it. "I feel very protective over Spider-Man."

'It will have to be worth it'

As the actor explains, "I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy."

Prudent in the light of other superhero flops

When considering the negative rap other Marvel and DC films have had in recent years (eg 'Ant-Man' or 'Eternals'), with movies even getting canceled before they were released ('Batgirl'), it's understandable Tom Holland wants to prevent that from happening to his beloved Spider-Man.

He also had to take a break

His fast rise in Hollywood also took its toll on the young actor. In June 2023, he announced that he had retired from acting for a little bit. He had to rest and regain his strength and the desire to go back to work.

Mental health and alcohol

Tom Holland focused on taking care of his mental health and trying to solve his alcohol addiction problem, as he revealed on Jay Shetty's 'On Purpose' podcast in July 2023.

'Growing up'

"My year off had nothing to do with the show," the actor explained. "It had everything to do with my age and growing up."

A year of personal growth

"I've been doing this since I was 11 on stage in London and haven't had a break since," he says in his interview. The young man simply needed a year of personal growth.

Time to organize his life (and drawers)

The actor has taken advantage of this time to rest, spend time with family and friends, and organize his life. And also to organize the drawers and realize that he had gone five years without paying for water.

It's never too late!

But it is never too late to pay off debts...
