Stars we lost in 2023: 'Young and Restless' actor Billy Miller, 44
Billy Miller suddenly died on September 15, 2023, at the age of 44. The cause of his death was not disclosed right away, even though we now know that it was obvious for the first responders to see.
On September 17, 2023, Billy Miller would have turned 44 years old. Two days earlier, however, he was found dead in his home in Austin, Texas.
According to the report of the Travis County Coroner Office, obtained by NBC, the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head.
In an official statement right after the actor's death, his manager announced the sad news but she did not yet disclose the exact cause. The only thing she said was that "Billy Miller was battling manic depression when he died."
At that time, based on the manager's statement, TMZ suggested that the 44-year-old actor would have taken his own life. Sadly, they were right.
With his passing, Billy Miller leaves behind a successful and prolific career that began in 2007 when he took on the role of Richie Novak on the soap opera 'All My Children' (2007-08).
A year later, he would begin his career in 'The Young and the Restless', where he would play Billy Abbott for six years and more than 700 episodes (2008-14).
Many will recognize the actor's face from this long-term role in 'The Young and the Restless.'
His role as Billy Abbott earned him three Emmy Awards: two for Best Supporting Actor in a Daytime Series and the third for Best Leading Actor.
The jump in popularity that these two series gave him allowed him to participate in some of the most famous series of the 21st century.
From 'Suits' to 'Ray Donovan', through 'CSI', 'The Rookie', and 'Major Crimes,' Miller was invited to several shows.
In 'General Hospital' he would remain for four years (2014-19) and almost 600 episodes.
