Charles III by Jonathan Yeo

One year after his coronation, Charles III of England received his first official portrait, made by Jonathan Yeo. The originality of the work and the massive presence of one particular color have caused social media to be flooded with memes.

Vigo, The Carpathian

References to 'Ghostbusters 2' (Ghostbusters II, 1989) have been constant since the villain of this installment was Vigo, The Carpathian, a sorcerer tyrant who is trapped in a similar situation.

The original (or almost)

In fact, it didn't take them too long to combine the face of Vigo, The Carpathian, with the image of Charles III. The result is so precise that it is scary.

Should we call them?

The good thing about this situation is that, if something happens, we know who to call.

What do you see in this image?

In the purest 'Rorschach Test' style, there are many people who have claimed to see things in the painting, even more so when it was duplicated. Now, the meaning of these visions has to be explained by a professional.

Bluntly

"It's the ugliest thing I've ever seen" has been the most sincere thing that people said on X (Twitter) since Elon Musk bought it.

Disturbing?

Creepy? Why? We have a giant painting in red tones, the undaunted gaze of a king, and the feeling that he is watching the entire room in which it is placed. Why would we have the shivers?

Hidden message?

If the author of the portrait hid a message about death in the painting, he will go down in history as the biggest troll of the British monarchy. And that means something, as the competition is tough.

Unexpected guest

Not everyone expected the figure of Joe Biden to appear in these circumstances, but he has.

Wanted

If they are going to place a search and arrest warrant for the perpetrator, the first thing they should do is establish a price for capturing him.

Cinema Series B

The portrait of Carlos III is on the cover of a teen horror movie from the 80s.

Ideal reaction

If there is an ideal reaction to define the picture of the British monarch, it is the one pointed out by Artist Angie on X.

Can it get worse?

When you think that the painting is the worst thing you have ever seen and you are preparing yourself for sleepless nights, arrhythmias, and night fears, someone appears with this image and you have to start over.

The reference was going to be made in any case

Some are too young to remember it, but the reference to Rossi made on Twitter is neither false nor exaggerated. It's true, at least for what he says about the tampon.

Meghan is next?

It seems unlikely that they will hang a portrait of Meghan Markle in Buckingham Palace. We're not sure she'd want this in her own house either.

The real creator

Is it possible that Mr. Bean was the creator of the work? Let's remember what he did with 'Whistler's Mother', in the film 'Bean' (1997). Considering the way it is now, Mr. Bean's improvement may be appreciated.

Fright

There's a video going viral on social media that shows a baby as the painting is revealed. Upon seeing it for the first time, there's a terrible fright. But who's more scared: the red guy or the little guy? We will never know but the video remains in the history of memes. Long live the (video of the) king.
