TWICE's Jihyo awarded as a soloist, quiet on dating news

Apart from the award, Jihyo has also been trending for her dating news in 2024. The Straits Times reported on March 28 that she was allegedly dating Olympic medalist and star of ‘Physical: 100’, Yun Sung-bin.

Jihyo is a K-pop starlet who is also the leader and vocalist of the girl group ‘TWICE’, which is managed by JYP Entertainment.
Jihyo, born Park Ji-soo on February 1, 1997 in Gyeongi Province, South Korea, was scouted by JYP Entertainment at the age of eight after winning a Junior Naver contest, according to SBS.
Since being recruited into JYP Entertainment, the same SBS report notes that Jihyo had trained under the company for ten years and had legally changed her name to Jihyo during then.
According to The Korea Herald, Jihyo had to participate in the reality survival show ‘Sixteen’ in 2015, where the premise of the show was to select the members who are to debut in a new girl group.

The same report from The Korea Herald notes that Jihyo became one of nine members to win the show, and the nine eventually became known as ‘TWICE’ and debuted in October 2015.

Other than Jihyo, the members of TWICE are Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.

As part of TWICE, Jihyo is known for the songs ‘Cheer Up’, ‘TT’, and ‘Look At Me’ among many other big hits.

Jihyo has also released solo works, for which she has also earned her most recent award win with, ‘Killin’ Me Good’, and the album ‘Zone’, which was released in August 2023.

In her personal life, Jihyo has been alleged to be dating Olympic medalist Yun Sung-bin, who is also a celebrity of his own right, having starred in the reality TV competition ‘Physical: 100’.

The news about Jihyo and Yun Sung-bin dating was reported by Sway, where the outlet alleges that the couple have been dating for about a year in secret, and connected over a mutual love for sports.

Despite Sway's alleged outing of the couple, Jihyo's and Yun Sung-bin's agencies have refused to comment, claiming that this is a personal matter in which they claim to have no right to interfere, according to Soompi.

If true, the news of Jihyo and Yun Sung-bin would mean that Jihyo would be the second person in TWICE to currently be in a relationship.

This coincides with the news that Chaeyoung has been confirmed to be dating the rapper Zion.T, according to NME.

According to Allkpop, netizens have pointed out that the difference in treatment at the agency was strange, where the agency swiftly confirmed Chaeyoung’s relationship while remaining silent about Jihyo’s.
