Josh Hartnett is a married man!

90s teen heartthrob Josh Hartnett is a married man! The Sun was the first to report the actor's secret wedding news. Although the press may have only just got wind of it, Hartnett and longtime partner Tamsin Egerton, an English actress, tied the knot in November of 2021 in London.

Remember back when Josh Hartnett was everywhere? Around twenty years ago, the actor was in high demand for Hollywood films, and his posters were plastered all over many teen girls' bedroom walls?

Josh's pool of female fans grew even larger when the hit comedy '40 Days and 40 Nights' was released. Then poof! All of a sudden, Josh Hartnett, almost overnight, seemed to disappear! Click on to discover whatever happened to Josh Hartnett and what he is up to these days!

In recent interviews in late 2020, Hartnett has spoken up about his decision to walk away from mainstream films and Hollywood. Hartnett has starred in films such as 'The Virgin Suicides,' 'Black Hawk Down,' and 'Pearl Harbor' and many have been perplexed by his decision to leave it all behind.

In an interview with 'The Guardian,' Josh spoke about his decision to leave Hollywood, "I wasn't doing it to be recalcitrant or a rebel. People wanted to create a brand around me that was going to be accessible and well-liked, but I didn’t respond to the idea of playing the same character over and over, so I branched out."

In the October of 2020 interview Hartnett also told 'The Guardian,'
"I tried to find smaller films I could be part of and, in the process, I burned my bridges at the studios because I wasn’t participating. Our goals weren’t the same."

However, there was more to leaving Hollywood than just wanting to branch out. Not only was the actor fearful of being pigeonholed by the roles he chose, but he was also missing his old way of life back in Minnesota, where he grew up.

In an interview with 'Details Magazine' Josh spoke up about being sick and tired of fame in the early 2000s. "I was on the cover of every magazine. I couldn't really go anywhere. I didn't feel comfortable in my own skin. I was alone, I didn't trust anyone."

Josh went on to say, "So I went back to Minnesota and got back together with my old friends — ended up getting back together with my high-school girlfriend for a while — and I didn't do any filming for 18 months. I'm still finding my way through all that."

By taking himself out of the spotlight, Hartnett has removed the pressure from Hollywood and has been able to become far more selective about the types of roles he accepts, along with the kind of films in which he chooses to participate.

In 'The Guardian' interview, Josh said, “I’m happy to be done with that era and to be making films that are more personal to me. Directors are coming to me to play characters as opposed to versions of a hero I played in a movie once.”

As of late, Hartnett has worked on films such as the thriller 'I Come With The Rain,' with director Tran Anh Hung and Atsuko Hirayanagi's comedy 'Oh, Lucy.'

Josh Hartnett isn't totally opposed to the mainstream either, as seen by his appearances in the film 'Black Dahlia' and his role on 'Penny Dreadful.' We will also see him alongside Jason Statham in 'Wrath of Man,' directed by Guy Ritchie.

Josh stars in one new film in 2022: Guy Richie's 'Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre,' which comes out on March 17 in the US. In addition, Hartnett also stars in the series 'The Fear Index,' playing a scientist turned Wall Street tycoon.

These days, Hartnett no longer lives in Minnesota. Currently, Josh calls Surrey, England, home. You won't see any personal update from Josh Hartnett online as he eschews social media.

The actor explained to 'USA Today' in 2015 why he does not share much about himself. "I think if you spend too much time courting people's attention into your personal life, you lose your ownership of it. That's why I make sure my life is my own."

In 2012 the actor got together with fellow actor Tamsin Egerton, whom he would go on to marry. The pair first met when they both agreed to appear in a multi-continent romance film directed by Roland Joffé.

Although we mostly only see photos of the couple on the red carpet, they have been going strong since 2012 and have created a family together.

The couple has three children together and, in 2017, decided to move to England to be closer to Tamsin's parents. At age 42, he'll be 43 in July; Josh seems content making family life his priority and only accepting roles that personally motivate him.

Along with the Guy Ritchie film coming out this year, the actor will also be starring in a Canadian crime drama. 'Target Number One,' directed by Daniel Roby, is the story of a French-Canadian man who gets framed and ends up in a Thai prison.

One thing is clear; Josh Hartnett doesn't seem to have any regrets about leaving the Hollywood rat race. In a 2004 interview with the 'Evening Chronicle,' Hartnett said, "I know what it's like to be in that whole world. I was up there for a couple of years, and it was uncomfortable. I think trying to stay at the top is a shortcut to unhappiness."
