Where's Travis Fimmel, Ragnar from 'Vikings'? In a Fool's Paradise, apparently!
It's been a while since the series 'Vikings', ended in 2017, and with the show, its main actor seems to have disappeared as well. Where did the handsome and strong Travis Fimmel, Ragnar Lothbrok in the series, go?
You may think he retired after his wild years as a Viking, but nothing is further from the truth. In fact, Travis Fimmel is part of a number of interesting, upcoming projects, including one of the most controversial shoots of the year... Read further to find out!
Let's start with the latest. On May 12, 2023, Fimmel appears in the movie 'Fool's Paradise.' It was made by Charlie Day from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,' so laughs are guaranteed. The film has a star-studded cast that also includes Adrien Brody, Ken Jeong, the late Ray Liotta, Kate Beckinsale, Jason Sudeikis, and Edie Falco.
Travis Fimmel was born in 1979 near Echuca, Victoria, a lovely region in Australia where scenes like this one can be found. The future actor was raised on a dairy farm as the youngest of three siblings.
Travis was working out at a gym in Melbourne when a talent scout from Chadwick Models noticed him. Soon enough, he was making money as a model.
And it wasn't petty cash either! Fimmel managed to become the first male model in the world to get a six-figure contract with Calvin Klein. He worked exclusively for the brand for a year, having been personally selected by its designer.
Travis Fimmel's first acting gigs were in video clips. He appeared in Janet Jackson's music video, 'Someone to Call My Lover' and Jennifer Lopez's video 'I'm Real,' among others.
His first TV role was in the CW series 'Tarzan,' where he played the title role for one season.

In 2009 he starred in the action-drama series 'The Beast' alongside the late Patrick Swayze. Fimmel played an FBI agent who was covertly investigating his partner (Swayze).

He was also part of the cast of 'The Experiment,' a film based on the story of the Stanford Prison Experiment by psychologist Philip Zimbardo. Although he shared the poster with Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker, among others, the film did not have much success.
But then came the role that turned everything around. In 2013, Travis Fimmel starred as the ruthless Viking leader Ragnar Lothbrok in the critically acclaimed series 'Vikings.'

The show, in which Fimmel appeared for four years, would set off an entire trend of Viking-inspired movies and TV series. The actor was nominated for an IGN Award as 'Best TV Hero' in 2013.

While filming 'Vikings,' Travis Fimmel took on the leading role of Anduin Lothar in the movie 'Warcraft,' an adaptation of the video game of the same name.
His 'Warcraft: the Beginning' had good results at the box office, breaking the record of 'Prince of Persia' as the highest-grossing movie based on a video game, but critics had mixed opinions about it. Even five years after the release of 'Warcraft,' it remained uncertain if there would be a sequel to the movie, as Comic Book experts at CBR reported.
In 2017, GQ Australia recognized Travis Fimmel as the 'Best Actor of the Year.' A modest guy from the countryside, the actor said in his acceptance speech: "I'm not sure how I got this, but I demand a recount," and, "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull ...."
After 'Warcraft,' it seemed to go quiet around Travis Fimmel, but he was simply working on some lesser-known projects. Among them were the Australian war film about the battle of Long Tan in Vietnam ('Danger Close,' 2019) and 'Dreamland' (2019, image) with Australian co-star Margot Robbie and the British 'Peaky Blinders' actor Finn Cole.
In 2020, he took on a new series with 'Raised by Wolves', a Sfi-Fi adventure directed by Ridley Scott, in which androids raise children on a mysterious planet isolated from any kind of civilization. Travis Fimmel was nominated for a 2021 Critics' Choice Super Award for this role.

The actor's current and future releases vary between comedy, action, science fiction, and Western. They prove that Travis Fimmel is by no means 'done' after 'Vikings,' and that he has a lot to offer.
In the series 'Black Snow' (2023), Travis plays Detective James Cormack, who's in charge of investigating the cold case of a murder of a teenager in the 90s.

Another upcoming project, 'Dune: The Sisterhood,' is a series based on the prequel of the Dune trilogy. Its story was inspired by the novel 'Sisterhood of Dune,' by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson the books, which is the prequel to the Dune trilogy. A release date is unclear so far since the project was put on hiatus in February 2023.
And then there's this remarkable film project: Travis Fimmel in the cast of 'Rust', the unfortunate production that came to a tragic and controversial halt after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot by Alec Baldwin. Filming reportedly resumed in May 2023.
