The day Cara Delevingne hit rock bottom
It was in September 2022 when erratic photos of Cara Delevingne at the 'Burning Man' music festival went around the world, worried her entourage, and marked a turning point in her life.
"I was not okay," Cara Delevingne confesses to 'Vogue'. After years of excesses with drinks and substances, the model and actress recognizes that she had to hit rock bottom to start her recovery. Seeing herself in that state was the click she needed in her mentality.
"That’s the problem. If you’re not face-first on the floor and ready to get up again," says Cara Delevingne. The next thing was to put herself in the hands of professionals and go through rehab.
The model acknowledges that "there’s an element of feeling invincible when I’m on drugs, I put myself in danger in those moments because I don’t care about my life. It’s a scary thing to the people around you who love you."
In a hard-hitting and candid interview, Cara Delevingne admits that the first time she started drinking she was 7 years old. It was at a wedding and she had glass after glass of champagne. "I woke up in my granny’s house in my bedroom with a hangover, in a bridesmaid’s dress."
Over the years, Cara Delevingne began to suffer from insomnia, dyspraxia (a psychomotor disorder that complicates the performance of simple movements), and what she calls "inadvertent self-harm."
And if that wasn't bad enough, at age 15 she had a breakdown with a massive wave of depression and anxiety for which she had to be medicated. "I was on medication and it just...it saved my life," she told Vogue.
Time has passed, and Cara Delevingne has found the strength to change her life and overcome traumas and addictions, according to 'The Hollywood Reporter.'
The actress has done the famous '12 Step Program,' leads a healthy lifestyle, has three meals a day, and does sports, meditation, and group therapy. And she has been sober since the end of 2022. The new version of Cara Delevingne aims for health above all else.
In 2022, friends of Cara Delevingne expressed their concerns about the actress/model, as she seemed to be going through a rough patch. After a long absence from the spotlight, Delevingne reappeared at a Paris airport on September 27, 2022. She was incognito and didn't look as glamorous as she used to.
Sources close to Delevingne told TMZ that she has been dealing with mental health problems for some time.
These same sources reportedly showed a growing concern about the model's substance abuse.
The situation was so delicate, TMZ reported, that Cara Delevingne's friends were convinced that she needed rehab.
Alarm bells went off after the publication of some shocking photos and a video of the model at the Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles.

The images went viral because of the star's erratic and strange behavior. She also had a rather deteriorated appearance.
Before the images at the airport, Cara Delevingne had already worried her fans and friends with certain strange interactions and absences from important events.
The Daily Mail US had shared photos of actress Margot Robbie leaving Cara Delevingne's house crying. She had just visited her friend. The two are so close that they even spent part of the summer together in Formentera, Spain.
According to TMZ, Margot Robbie was one of the friends who was trying her hardest to get Cara Delevingne into therapy and a rehab center as soon as possible.
TMZ reported that the British model kept procrastinating on the matter and was not ready to take the first step for most of 2022.
On the day that Margot Robbie went to Cara Delevingne's house, the model was supposed to be at the New York Fashion Week.
On that day, Cara Delevingne was scheduled to present her new clothing collection, designed as a tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld. But she never made it to the Big Apple.

Cara Delevingne was also absent at the Emmy Awards gala, which she was scheduled to attend as part of the cast of the series 'Only Murders in the Building.'
In fact, the Disney Plus series was one of the favorites for an award, with six nominations including Best Comedy. (It ended up nearly empty-handed, although Nathan Lane got an award for Best Guest Actor.)
Poppy Delevingne, Cara's sister, moved from London to Los Angeles to be closer to her sister in these hard times, The Daily Mail UK reported.
On social media, there has been massive support for the English star. She has nearly 43 million followers on Instagram.
Fans, friends, and colleagues sent her messages of affection and support. The natural charisma of the actress and model has captivated millions over the last decade.
And then, suddenly, Cara Delevingne reappeared at a fashion event, looking radiant. She looked happy and healthy at the Paris Fashion Week on September 27, 2022.
Delevingne showed off her beautiful smile on the red carpet at the 'Cara Loves Karl Paris' party. It was the celebration of the launch of her clothing collection in honor of the late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
In 2023, after the Fashion Weeks were long past and it had been quiet around the star, she reappeared and said she felt much better. Cara Delevingne has clearly followed a known adagio of Hollywood: the show must go on.
