Who is Dua Lipa's new French boyfriend, Romain Gavras?
Romain Gavras and Dua Lipa are the new fashionable couple in showbiz! The French director and the British singer caused a stir when they made their relationship official on the red carpet at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
In reality, the interpreter of 'Levitating' and her new darling may have been in a relationship for several weeks or months already. Dua Lipa, 27, and Romain Gavras, 41, were spotted together at a London party in February 2023. Then, in March, a source close to the singer revealed to The Sun that Dua Lipa and Romain Gravras "had been getting to know each other for several months."
On May 19, during the preview of the film 'Omar la Fraise' at the Cannes Film Festival, the two lovebirds appeared hand in hand. Since then, they have been spotted together everywhere, for example at a recent concert of Beyoncé in London.

Romain Gavras was born on July 4, 1981, in Paris into a family that had a deep love for cinema. He is the son of producer Michèle Ray-Gavras (right), and Franco-Greek director Costa-Gavras (left). Both have won several awards for their films.
Romain Gavras' father notably received an Oscar for his film 'Z' in 1970, in the category of Best Foreign Film. In 1983, he would win the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for 'Missing.' This film also received the 1982 Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
In the Gavras family, no one has escaped the world of film. Romain's older brother, Alexandre Gavras (right), is both a producer and an actor. His sister, Julie Gavras, is also a film and documentary director.
Romain Gavras took his first steps in the world of cinema through short films. In 1994, he created Kourtrajmé with Kim Chapiron and Toumani Sangaré, a collective of artists working together in the field of audiovisual creation.
With this collective, he made his first short film in 1994, 'Paradoxe Perdu.' Note that Dua Lipa had not been born by then! (She's from 1995). Gravas would produce three other short films in his career: 'The Funk Hunt' (2001), 'La Barbichette' (2002), and 'Megalopolis' (2005).
But it is especially in the world of music videos that Romain Gavras has made a name for himself. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Justice, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, and Jay-Z.
In 2012, he won the MTV Music Video Award for his music video 'Bad Girls' by singer MIA.
Passionate about music, Romain Gavras has also followed artists to make documentaries about them. In 2005 he directed a film about the Canadian rapper Roi Heenok, then in 2008 'A Cross the Universe' about the tour of the group Justice in the United States.
The Frenchman directed his first feature film in 2010, starring Vincent Cassel: 'Our Day Will Come' ('Notre Jour Viendra'). It follows Patrick and Rémy, two men in search of identity, and explores the themes of marginality and rebellion. The film is considered provocative by critics and has not won unanimous support.
Eight years later, the director released 'Le monde est à toi,' a comedy about the adventures of a small trafficker in search of a better life. The film stars Isabelle Adjani as the main character's mother.
During his career, Romain Gavras has also produced numerous commercials. He notably worked for Yves Saint Laurent with Mélanie Thierry and Emily Blunt, and for Dior Homme with Robert Pattinson.
While Romain Gavras is used to being behind the camera, he also had the opportunity to pass in front of it several times. Yet, he is not likely to win an Oscar for Best Actor right away! The Frenchman has so far only obtained very small roles on the big screen.
Before being in a relationship with Dua Lipa, the French director dated another British singer: Rita Ora. Their relationship only lasted a few months, between 2020 and 2021. The couple reportedly broke up due to their busy schedules.
With 'Athena,' his latest feature film, Romain Gavras has tried a new genre: drama. He takes us into a city on the verge of falling into chaos following a tragic event. The film, released in September 2022 on Netflix, received critical acclaim.
