'A clown:' How Robert De Niro trolled Donald Trump in New York
Robert De Niro has recently spoken out strongly against Donald Trump in his bid for a second term as president of the United States. Indeed, he seems determined to do everything possible to prevent it.
At 80 years old, the actor has gone beyond showing his support for President Joe Biden. At the doors of the New York courthouse where Donald Trump was being tried for alleged hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, De Niro urged Americans not to vote for Trump, as captured by news outlets such as CNN.

De Niro told the media that he originally thought Trump's run to be president was a joke, but warned about the dangers of re-electing him. "We've forgotten the lessons of history that showed us other clowns who weren't taken seriously until they became vicious dictators," he said.
"The Twin Towers fell just over here, just over there," said De Niro, angering Trump supporters gathered at the courthouse as well. "This part of the city was like a ghost town, but we vowed we would not allow terrorists to change our way of life... I love this city. I don't want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country, and eventually he can destroy the world."
"If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted. And elections — forget about it. That's over; that's done. If he gets in, I can tell you right now, he will never leave," the actor added.
To illustrate his point, the actor recalled the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2020, after Joe Biden's election victory, directly blaming Donald Trump as the instigator of that "angry mob."
But it didn’t stop there. Robert De Niro also took time to insult the Republican candidate, calling him a "clown" and a "coward."
Speaking through the lens of New York, he explained how he views Trump: "We New Yorkers used to tolerate him when he was just another grubby real estate h u s t l e r masquerading as a big shot, a two-bit p1ay boy lying his way into the tabloids," he ranted.
"With Trump, we have a second chance and no one is laughing now. This is the time to stop him by voting him out once and for all," said the 'Raging Bull' actor.
"The only way to preserve our freedoms and hold on to our humanity is to vote for Joe Biden for president," added De Niro, again warning about Trump becoming a "dictator for life." His words stirred the crowd and were backed by genuine rage, making us think that this isn't the last we'll hear from De Niro during this tense election season.
