How Lottie Moss nearly died

Lottie Moss, Kate Moss' sister, revealed in September 2024 that she had once put her life in terrible danger. To prevent that from happening to other people, she decided to share her experience on her podcast 'Dream On'.

Ozempic

The model's health problem was related to Ozempic, the famous diabetes drug that great numbers of affluent people are currently using to lose weight.

The dangers of self-medication

In the case of Lottie Moss, she was taking it without medical supervision. The 26-year-old model took too much of the drug and had to be admitted to the emergency room "on the verge of death."

Medicine prescribed for diabetes

How did the model get the diabetes drug in the first place, if she didn't have the disease? "It was from a doctor, but it wasn't like you go into a doctor's office and he prescribes it for you," she explained. "He takes your blood pressure and takes tests, which is what you need when you go on something like Ozempic."

She wanted to lose weight

Lottie Moss began taking Ozempic because she felt that the 60 kilos she weighed were too much. Her length is 1,68m.

Ozempic helps you eat less

The diabetes drug has been known to help people lose weight quickly. It causes them to feel less hungry and thus consume fewer calories.

All the rage among celebrities

Celebrities who have declared to have taken Ozempic to lose weight include Sharon Osbourne, Elon Musk, and Amy Schumer, among others, The Irish Sun reports.

"Very high doses"

Lottie Moss didn't get the guidance that one should have when taking a strong medication like Ozempic. As she recalls on her podcast, for two weeks, she injected herself with "very high doses" of Ozempic.

15 pounds / 7 kilos in two weeks

While her weight went down to 53 kilos - a difference of 15 pounds or 8 stone - she also experienced health problems.

And then... seizures from severe dehydration

As the Irish Sun cites from her account on the podcast, Lottie Moss began looking pale and vomiting a lot. "After she was rushed to A&E, Lottie had a seizure due to her dehydration, recalling the 'horrible' experience which saw her close friend hold down her feet as she contorted on the hospital floor," the Irish Sun reports.

Nearly died

When she entered the hospital convulsing and swelling in her hands and face, it soon became clear that she almost lost her life.

48 agonizing hours

Before going to the hospital, Lottie Moss confirmed that she vomited non-stop for 48 hours, which is why she ended up asking a friend to take her to the hospital.

"I feel really sick"

As she recalls it, "I felt so sick one day. I said to my friend, 'I can’t keep any water down. I can’t keep any food down, no liquids, nothing. I need to go to the hospital. I feel really sick."

Double the recommended dose

It was there that, when questioned by a nurse, she admitted that she was taking the dose that would correspond to a person weighing 100 kilos, twice her weight. For that reason, her body violently rejected the drug.

She was able to recover

After being treated in the hospital, the model is recovering at home, as reported by the 'Daily Mail'.

This is her warning

By telling her story, the model did not want to discourage people from using the drug, even though she is certain she would never want to try it again. She'd rather die.

Use it but with precaution

Instead, Lottie Moss recommended that those who use Ozempic make sure to have proper supervision. The drug can work, Moss and other celebrities claim, but you should never experiment with it.
