The South African model and breakthrough actress died at age 32 from a "sudden and unexpected" illness, Deadline reported. Charlbi Dean starred in 'Triangle of Sadness,' a film by the Swedish director Ruben Östlund that won the Palme d'Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

Olivia Newton-John - August 8

The British-Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John passed away after a long battle with cancer. She'd become an icon of pop culture thanks to films like 'Grease' (1978) and 'Xanadu' (1980).

Anne Heche - August 12

Actress Anne Heche was known for films and series in the 90s and early 2000s, such as 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' At the age of 53, she passed away after a tragic car accident. The actress was in a coma for about a week before they declared she was dead.

Josephine Tewson - August 18

This British actress was on TV for nearly half a century. Among her best known roles was that of neighbor Elizabeth in 'Keeping Up Appearances' (1990-1995). Josephine Tewson died at the age of 91 of natural causes.

David McCullough - August 7

Two Pulitzer prizes were among the many awards for this historian who wrote bestsellers on U.S. Presidents Truman and John Adams. His 'John Adams' biography was turned into a limited series on HBO. David McCullough died of natural causes at the age of 89.

Robert LuPone - August 27

Robert LuPone, the American actor and artistic director known for, among other things, his role as the doctor of Tony Soprano in 'The Sopranos,' passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 76. He helped found the major MCC Theater company.

Joe E. Tata - August 24

The life of the American television actor Joe E. Tata has ended at the age of 85. He was known for his role as Nat Bussichio, the owner of the Peach Pit cafeteria in the 90's series 'Beverly Hills 90210.' In 2018 the actor had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Rab Wardell - August 23

The 37-year-old Scottish cyclist died in his sleep as a result of a heart attack. Just two days earlier he had won the MTB XC Championship.

Leon Vitali - August 20

The British actor, famous for playing Lord Bullingdon in Stanley Kubrick's film 'Barry Lyndon' (1975), died at the age of 74. He was Kubrick's assistant for three decades.

Joseph Delaney - August 16

A prolific writer of fantasy and science fiction, the British author was most famous for his books on 'The Spook's Apprentice.' He died at age 77 after an illness he and his family did not disclose.

Tsuneko Sasamoto - August 15

At the age of 107, the life of pioneering Japanese photojournalist Tsuneko Sasamoto came to an end in a nursing home in Tokyo. She was famous for her photographic work on post-war Japanese society.

Robyn Griggs - August 13

American actress Robyn Griggs died of cervical cancer at the young age of 49. She played Maggie Cory in 'Another World' in the early 90s and was nominated for an Emmy for her role as Stephanie Hobart in 'One Life to Live.'

Denise Dowse - August 13

This American actress and director participated in  'Beverly Hills 90210' (1990-2000) and 'Insecure' (2016-2021) among many other works. She died at the age of 64 from meningitis.

Wolfgang Petersen - August 12

At the age of 81, the German director Wolfgang Petersen passed away from pancreatic cancer. We owe him, among other works, the direction of 'The Neverending Story' (1984), 'In the Line of Fire' (1993) and 'Air Force One' (1997).

Hanae Mori - August 11

Japanese designer Hanae Mori, who rose to success in Parisian Haute Couture, died in Tokyo at the age of 96. He dressed Nancy Reagan and Grace of Monaco, among other celebrities.

Darius Danesh - August 11

The Scottish singer, producer and actor of Persian origin passed away at the young age of 41. He was found dead at his home in Rochester, Minnesota, and the cause of death was not disclosed. Darius Danesh became famous in the 2000s for his participation in talent shows.

Nicholas Evans - August 9

At age 71, the British writer Nicholas Evans passed away from a heart attack. He was the author of the bestseller 'The Horse Whisperer.'

Roger E. Mosley - August 7

A car accident on August 4 severely wounded the American actor Roger E. Mosley. He would pass away three days later. Mosley was known for his work on the 80s police series 'Magnum, PI,' among other productions. He was 83 years old.

Issey Miyake - August 5

The renowned Japanese designer Issey Miyake passed away at the age of 84. The cause of death was liver cancer. With his innovative creations, Issey Miyake revolutionized fashion codes. He's also the man behind the famous perfume L'eau d'Issey.

Clu Gulager - August 5

American actor and director Clu Gulager died from natural causes at the age of 93. He had been famous for his roles in 1980s horror movies, but one of his last big hits was his role in Quintin Tarantino's movie 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' (2019). Gulager was one of Tarantino's favorite actors .

Judith Durham - August 5

Australian singer and songwriter Judith Durham passed away at the age of 81 due to bronchiectasis. Durham was the lead singer of the popular Australian group 'The Seekers' in the 1960s.
