Awkward red carpet photos from the 2000s

The 2000s marked an era in many ways and one of them was fashion. Proof of this? The red carpets of the time. They gave us spectacular moments that we can and should never forget.

Drew Barrymore is a good example of this. And not only because of her looks, but also because of her casual attitude that turned any red carpet into a party.

And here we have Cuba Gooding Jr, Donatella Versace, Lenny Kravitz and Jennifer Lopez showing off their 'style' at the Vogue Fashion Awards. All together and all mixed up.

And in this other image we see Mariah Carey, enjoying a moment with her fans. And with a great retro look.

Cameron Diaz, in her limousine and wearing a denim outfit that takes us straight back to the early years of the new millennium.

But if we are talking about the 2000s, we are inevitably talking about Britney Spears. She gave us some of the most iconic moments of the decade.

Hats were a must for the 'Baby One More Time' singer, as was a furry touch on sleeves and cuffs.

Do you recognise her? It's the Colombian singer Shakira, wearing a fur coat, two-tone highlights and a flower in her hair.

And what can we say about their looks? Low-cut satin shirts, a thousand accessories, extra hair gel... This is how we see Welsh designer Julien MacDonald accompanied by a Paris Hilton who looks like she's straight out of her 'Sweet Sixteen'.

In the 2000s you had to wear everything. And if it didn't match, so much the better, as a very young Lindsay Lohan demonstrated. Accessories were essential. And in particular, chokers.
