Selena Gomez cries for deported Mexican migrants
Selena Gomez is deeply hurt by what is happening in the United States, where thousands of undocumented Latinos are being deported to their country of origin, regardless of whether they are separated from their families.
Faced with this situation, the actress of the controversial film 'Emilia Pérez' (2024) showed her concern about what happened in a video on social media. She even cried over what was happening and wrote: "I’m so sorry."
The actress of Mexican roots expressed in her video: "All my people are getting attacked. The children. I don’t understand. I am sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can't…"
"…I don’t know what to do. I'll try everything, I promise," said the actress in tears over the deportations of Latino immigrants in the United States.

After Donald Trump became president of the United States, he began mass deportations of those who did not have the proper papers to be in that country.
After sharing her video, Selena had to delete it due to the numerous attacks she received. Many considered her message contradictory, in large part because she had participated in the film 'Emilia Pérez'. The Oscar-nominated movie does not portray Mexico in a good light.
"Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people," Selena wrote in an Instagram story after deleting her video.
Beyond everything, Selena has been a staunch defender of immigrant rights in the United States.
In fact, in 2019, the actress produced the Netflix documentary series 'Living Undocumented', which shows several undocumented families without proper papers who face the risk of being deported after years of living in the United States.
In her video, she spoke specifically about Mexico because she has Mexican roots. Her father (Ricardo Gómez)'s mother is originally from Guadalajara. She later emigrated to Texas.
"I personally understand what my grandmother and great-grandmother went through, coming to this country alone. I've been surrounded by incredible women all my life, and I love representing that part of me because so much of what I do is predominantly in English," she said in an interview with the program 'Ventaneando.'
However, although she is proud of her roots, Selena does not know much Spanish. In order to speak the language in the movie 'Emilia Pérez', she had to work very hard. Gomez forms a stellar cast in the movie alongside Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofía Gascón and Édgar Ramírez.
