US State Department sends warning to those traveling abroad
The American Department of State (equivalent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) usually warns those traveling abroad of specific dangers. Looking ahead to June, the Department sent a message to travelers leaving the country.
According to Politico, the State Department warns that "US citizens should remain alert in tourist areas and places popular with LGBTQ+ people."

The US authorities inform those who go to the various LGBTQ+ pride celebrations held around the world to take precautions, presumably due to the increase in hate crimes. However, they do not advise against any specific destination in this area.

Politico reports that the FBI and other partner agencies recently wrote a report stating that "foreign terrorist organizations or supporters may seek to exploit increased gatherings associated with the upcoming June 2024 Pride Month."

The State Department often warns U.S. citizens to be careful in certain countries or circumstances. Of course, in this case, the warning may be too generic.

However, warnings like this should not lead to a state of panic, the State Department argues. LGBTQ+ celebrations around the world are an achievement in universal rights that must be defended by actively participating in them.

Over the years, the LGBTQ+ demonstrations and celebrations in cities such as San Francisco, Madrid, Berlin, and London (among many other places) have mostly been events for enjoyment. They rarely involved violent acts.
