Britney Spears celebrates birthday and single life

On Monday, December 2, singer Britney Spears had a double reason to celebrate her birthday: in addition to adding another year to her life, Spears commemorated her marital status as recently single.

According to official documents, 'E! News' sources confirmed that Britney Spears has now completed her separation from Sam Asghari.

According to several American media outlets, the dancer/actor and the singer reached a divorce agreement in May 2024, but it was not until Monday, December 2, seven months later, that the civil status was legally formalized.

Asghari (real name Hesam Asghari) filed for divorce in August 2023, just over a year after marrying the singer.

The split was filed as uncontested, according to 'E! News'. Additionally, both parties appeared in the case and "entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support." It made the legal process a lot easier.

At the time of their split, Spears explained on Instagram that she was in shock over the divorce. "Six years is a long time to be with someone," she said, adding that she "couldn't take the pain anymore".

In 2022, shortly before they were married, the couple had to endure a traumatic experience together. Britney Spears had been pregnant but lost the baby.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy," Britney Spears then wrote on Instagram.

Asghari has asked for privacy but wishes Spears the best. "We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always," the dancer said in a statement.

As painful as it was for the singer, it seems that the relationship ended on good terms. She described Asghari as a "gift from God" in her book 'The Woman in Me'. She also told TMZ that this particular part of the book had "made him smile".

According to a post on her Instagram account, the singer celebrated her birthday / divorce with dinner and "delicious w i n e". In the post, she shared a video in which she wore a champagne-colored dress and a lace shawl.

Britney Spears is 43 years old. Over the course of her roller-coaster career, she was married three times and had two children with her second husband, Kevin Federline. Both boys have reached college age by now.

Despite the celebrations of her birthday and single life, Spears also complained about how cruel the paparazzi had been to her. Through a pair of videos on Instagram, the singer explained what they had done to her.

"It really kind of hurts my feelings that the paparazzi make my face look like I'm wearing like a white Jason mask. It doesn't even look like me," Spears said, referring to the Michael Myers character in Halloween horror movies.

The singer explained that she decided to move to Mexico because of the harassment of photographers.

Although the singer has been to Mexico a couple of times this year, according to People magazine, this video appears to be the first time she mentions actually moving to the neighboring country.
