Robert Pattinson's Batman?

More than just another anticipated 'superhero' movie. The dark and complex twists of the first installment have left us wanting. We tell you what we know about the release date, the possible cast, and everything we know so far.

DC Comics struggles to compete with the success of Marvel

Despite the ever-growing MCU, Batman is one of the franchises from DC comics which has continued to be strong throughout.

Saving an empire

James Gunn's hopes are pinned on two characters from the Batman universe and their franchises. Both 'Joker' and 'The Batman' were standalone films and more successful than those in the DCEU, so Warner greenlit a sequel to both.

The first to arrive will be 'Joker 2'

The sequel to the creepy film is scheduled for release on 4 October 2024. The film was so successful that its star, Joaquin Phoenix, won several awards, including the Oscar for Best Actor, a rare feat for an anti-hero film.

But we won't have to wait too long for 'The Batman Part II'

Production has recently been announced on the new installment of the franchise. It will once again be directed by Matt Reeves and star Robert Pattinson.

'The Batman 2' to be released exclusively in cinemas

The original release date in the United States was 3 October 2025. But this was exclusively in cinemas and no information was given regarding other platforms.

Strikes delayed production

The idea was to start shooting in November 2023, but the actor and screenwriter strikes in Hollywood in 2023 delayed production to April 2024, so we may now have to wait until 2026.

What is 'The Batman Part II' about?

The final plot has not yet been leaked, but it will surely pick up the story where it left off at the end of the first installment, with a small glimmer of hope in Gotham, a city that seemed doomed to desolation.

The possible villains

Both Reeves and Pattinson have shown interest in Mr. Freeze, the Court of Owls, the Calendar Man, and Hush. Not forgetting Barry Keoghan's eagerly anticipated Joker.

Lead roles

At the moment only Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and Andy Serkis as Alfred are confirmed.

Zoë Kravitz probably Catwoman

Nor can it be ruled out that Zoë Kravitz will be Catwoman and Colin Farrell is likely to reprise his role as the Penguin. Farrell's penguin has been confirmed for the HBO Max series.

Those who will likely not return

More doubtful is the return of Paul Dano as Enigma, but no one would be surprised by a brief appearance with him still locked up in Arkham.

Reeves will write the script in collaboration with Mattson Tomlin

It is hoped that the collaboration with the author of sci-fi thriller ‘Mother/Android’ will give the production an even darker atmosphere.

The plan is for 'The Batman' to be at least a trilogy

In addition to the potential trilogy, the franchise is looking to have several TV spin-offs including Farrell reprising the Penguin character.

Another horror film centered on Arkham Asylum

This spin-off will revolve around the Gotham police department.  We don't rule out that there will be more aside from this additional film.

Robert Pattinson's unprecedented success as The Batman

Robert Pattinson probably wouldn't have been many people's first choice to become Batman after Christian Bale's superb performance. However, Matt Reeves saw something in him. Many fans protested but were ultimately surprised by his performance as a younger, wounded Bruce Wayne, determined to take revenge. It was so well received that here we are, excited for the second installment of this franchise.

Like buses

After waiting so long for part II, the rumor is that parts II and III will be shot back to back so hopefully part III won't be released too long after the second installment. We eagerly await.
