Hospital drama fans were delighted with the news of Grey's Anatomy's return for an eighteenth season. Near the end of season seventeen, the producer announced that Ellen Pompeo has agreed to another year of Meredith Grey.

And so is... ER!

In addition to Grey's Anatomy, another hospital classic is said to be returning for a new season: ER! George Clooney has hinted that the world-famous medical drama about County General Hospital may have a sequel. The series started in 1994 and had fifteen successful seasons. The role of Doug Ross made George Clooney world famous.

Where to watch ER now?

The news about ER has not yet been confirmed, and old episodes are not available everywhere. You can watch the iconic series (with George Clooney, Noah Wyle, and Julianna Margulies) on Hulu, All4 (in the UK), or Apple iTunes (Australia).

The Night Shift - Amazon Prime Video

A group of army doctors returns to civilian life and works night shifts at a hospital. In addition to the problems of an exhausting routine and the struggle to save lives, they face the bureaucratic challenge of managing a hospital ward.

Private Practice - Amazon Prime Video (UK), Disney Plus (Australia)

A spin-off of Grey's Anatomy in which surgeon Addison works in a private clinic. Not only do you see the differences between a public and a private hospital in this series, but of course the necessary sparks also jump between the staff.

Diagnosis - Netflix

The documentary series is based on Dr. Lisa Sanders, published in The New York Times. With the help of the public, and around the world, she joins forces and searches for diagnoses for mysterious diseases.

Lenox Hill - Netflix

This is also a docu-series, a genre that Netflix has become good at in recent years. 'Lenox Hill' follows four doctors at the hospital of the same name in New York City. Sometimes treatments go well, and sometimes there are deep valleys.

House, MD - Amazon Prime Video (UK)

The series' most sarcastic anti-hero of all time aired from 2004 to 2012. The eight seasons won several awards. In the storyline of Dr. House and his team are treated objectively on medical issues, but always under a shroud of mystery.

Hospital Playlist - Netflix

Love for music and medicine define the atmosphere of Hospital Playlist. It's just a little different from other series. Five friends not only share their daily challenges in the hospital, but also their musical discoveries.

Scrubs - Disney Plus (UK), Stan (Australia)

With a silly but sometimes wry humor, Scrubs shows the professional and personal life of a group of interns. They work long hours in a hospital dealing with unpredictable patients, colleagues and staff.

Life - Netflix

In this Korean series, medical ideals clash with profit. While the doctors try to save and protect lives, a new director arrives at the hospital with a much more commercial mindset.

The Good Doctor - Amazon Prime Video (UK) and Now TV (Australia)

In addition to medical issues, the series also brings up the personal struggles of the young autistic physician assistant Shaun Murphy. He is constantly challenged to show his skills as a doctor to colleagues and superiors.

Chicago Med - Amazon Prime Video

A group of doctors and nurses team up to treat patients arriving at the emergency room at Chicago's largest hospital. The plot is full of drama, romance and suspense. The series has five seasons and is a spin-off of 'Chicago Fire'. Amazon Prime Video gives you the first four seasons, while Australian 9Now subscribers can watch season 5 as well.

The Surgeon's Cut - Netflix

The documentary series tells the stories of four professionals who have left their mark on medicine. Their influence has been felt by hundreds of thousands of other physicians around the world.

The Resident - Disney Plus

This medical drama follows the life of the young doctor-in-training Devon Pravesh. His dramatic story is complemented by subplots about medical errors, problems with the hospital's finances, and attempts to rescue patients. The series is a success and has already had four seasons.

Pandemic: Covid-19 - Netflix

This documentary series not only shows the impact of a pandemic, with the ongoing battle against virus outbreaks, but also follows the professionals working on the front lines. A must in the present day.
