Celebs using their status to promote vaccination

With vaccine campaigns around the world rolling out against COVID-19, many celebrities have been using their social media accounts to share that they have been vaccinated and encourage others to do the same. In May 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle even hosted a festival to advocate vaccination across the world. They are definitely getting their jabs at a local California facility.

Ben Affleck and Jimmy Kimmel

The same goes for Ben Affleck and Jimmy Kimmel, who also appeared at 'Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World.' In a nod to Affleck's performance as Batman, Kimmel decided to show up in a Robin suit.

Superhero actors before they became superheroes: Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and others.

Jennifer Lopez and her mother

Ben Affleck's ex was at the concert as well, which - after her recent breakup with Alex Rodriguez - immediately sparked rumours of a reunion. But Jennifer Lopez came to the event to promote vaccination, nothing else. She brought along her mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez, who had been fully vaccinated. They even sang a song together.

Who's getting it, and who's probably not?

While most celebrities with a COVID-19 vaccination are in the over-60 crowd, the vaccination campaign is advancing and younger stars are getting the jab as well. See who of our favourite stars has gotten the vaccine, and also which celebrities will most likely choose to NOT get vaccinated.

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton shared on Instagram how she received "a dose of her own medicine" after getting an injection of the Moderna vaccine - which she helped develop by donating a significant amount of funds.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey shared a video of her vaccination on Instagram. The talented singer said she was "nervous and excited to get the shot." After receiving her dose, she encouraged fans to "get it when they can" and reminded everyone that "we are all in this together."

Britney Spears

On April 9th, Britney Spears shared a video on Instagram after having received her COVID jab. In the video, a very happy, smiling Britney told viewers about the experience, "The people on the internet said it was really, really bad — it was like a bullet going through your arm." Then the singer added, "It was nothing. I felt nothing."

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez didn't just show up at the 'Vax Live' concert, she hosted it! The singer and actress has been very active in calling for an equal distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine across the world, even directly addressing world leaders about it. Selena Gomez is very likely to get the Covid jab herself.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner

Cute couple Joe Jonas and wife Sophie Turner have also been inoculated. On April 8th, the pair showed off their matching band-aids from their vaccine on Instagram. Joe wrote, "Let's (NOT) Get It!" as an encouragement to fans to follow suit and get the jab as well.

Hugh Jackman

Even the Wolverine needs his vaccine! Hugh Jackman also posted on Instagram on April 8th about receiving his vaccine, writing, "Wolverine's healing ability can't save me from Covid. But the vaccine can. Get it!"

Blake Lively

Blake Lively shared a sweet post about being vaccinated on Instagram. The star wrote, "Find you someone who looks at you like I look at the heroic nurse vaccinating me." That is definitely some pretty solid dating advice since Blake is looking adoringly at her nurse!

Ryan Reynolds

Blake Lively's husband, actor Ryan Reynolds also received his vaccination. Reynolds shared the post on Instagram and cracked a joke about receiving the jab saying, "Finally got 5G."

Willie Nelson

Country music fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that country music legend Willie Nelson has been vaccinated. The 87-year-old received his vaccination at Austin's Family Hospital Systems, which shared a post on Facebook about vaccinating the star with the caption, "Getting your COVID vaccine is Willie cool!"

Kamala Harris

In December 2020, just one week after US President Joe Biden received his COVID jab, Vice President Kamala Harris received hers along with her husband, Doug Emhoff. Vice President Harris shared the experience on social media and took the opportunity to thank all the frontline workers, especially the nurses.

David Lynch

David Lynch fans don't need to worry anymore - he is now fully vaccinated! The director had stated that he would not work on any more films until there was a vaccine; now that Lynch has completed the vaccination process, he can hopefully get back to work soon!

Michelle Obama

The former First Lady, Michelle Obama, shared that she was being vaccinated in March on social media and took the opportunity to encourage others to do the same.

Stephen Fry

British comedian Stephen Fry shared the unique location he had the opportunity to visit, thanks to his inoculation. Fry received his vaccination on March 9th at Westminster Abbey and wrote about it on Twitter, "Fancy the call to be jabbed sending me to Westminster Abbey of all spectacular places."

Stephen King

Remember the good old days when the scariest things you read were in a Stephen King novel and not in the newspapers? Well, Stephen King has been vaccinated, so we can count on him staying healthy and being able to write plenty more page-turners to keep us distracted from the stress of real life.

Paul Stanley

KISS frontman Paul Stanley has received both of his vaccination doses and is now ready to "rock and roll all night and party every day!"

Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson of the 'Beach Boys' might be able to visit some of those tropical islands the group loved singing about so much soon. Wilson was vaccinated at Dodgers' Stadium in L.A.

Christie Brinkley

Did Christie Brinkley jump the line?? No, no, not at all, even though it is hard to believe, at 65 years old, Brinkley qualified for vaccination fair and square.

Sean Penn

As the co-founder of CORE, a global response organization, actor Sean Penn was eager to share that he had received his vaccine on social media. CORE has been assisting with COVID testing and vaccinations across the U.S.

Tony Bennett

Legendary jazz singer Tony Bennett is too classy to share a masked selfie of his vaccination. Instead, the singer used a headshot to share the good news that he had received his COVID jab.

Tony Bennett recently revealed his Alzheimer diagnosis

Sir Patrick Stewart

At 80 years of age, Sir Patrick Stewart was one of the first celebrities vaccinated for COVID-19. The well-known actor received the first dose on the 22nd of January and even shared a video of the experience on Instagram and said, "In my 80th year, I am grateful and hopeful for better days ahead."

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Even the Terminator isn't immune to COVID; that is why Arnold Schwarzenegger stepped up for the jab. The actor and politician took to Twitter to encourage others to get immunized if eligible and share a video of the process, even quoting his most famous movie saying, "Come with me if you want to live."

Steve Martin

Everyone's favorite comedian Steve Martin shared that he has been vaccinated on Twitter. The actor wrote, "Good news/Bad news. Good news: I just got vaccinated! Bad news: I got it because I'm 75. Ha!"

Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart received her second dose of the COVID vaccine and shared about the experience on Instagram. The 79-year-old Queen of Domestic Duties was quick to point out that she didn't jump the line, and waited her turn just like everyone else.

Kim Cattrall

Much like Christie Brinkley, it is hard to believe that Kim Cattrall, 64, is also old enough to be eligible for the vaccine. The former 'Sex and the City' star shared a post on Instagram about receiving the vaccine after New York expanded eligibility to those over 60.

Jonathan Van Ness

Jonathan Van Ness is one of the youngest celebrities to receive the vaccination due to his HIV+ status. The 'Queer Eye' star used the opportunity to speak up on social media about the importance of those with HIV+ status receiving the jab.

Anthony Hopkins

Anthony Hopkins must be extremely relieved to have been given his immunization shot against COVID. The 'Silence of the Lambs' actor wrote of seeing "light at the end of the tunnel" after having endured one year of self-imposed quarantine.

Jeff Goldblum

As "a citizen well into his platinum years," actor Jeff Goldblum was eligible for his COVID jab, administered at a public vaccination facility in L.A. in February.

Samuel L Jackson

On January 23rd, Samuel L. Jackson joined many of his peers by getting the vaccine. Wearing a super-hero themed mask, the Marvel mainstay posted about getting the jab in Inglewood at the Forum.

Who are likely to pass on vaccination?

'Clueless' actress Alicia Silverstone has been very open about her weariness towards vaccines. She wrote about them in her book 'The Kind Mama: A Simple Guide to Supercharged Fertility, a Radiant Pregnancy, a Sweeter Birth, and a Healthier, More Beautiful Beginning,' in 2014.

Alicia Silverstone

"There is increasing anecdotal evidence from doctors who have gotten distressed phone calls from parents claiming their child was "never the same" after receiving a vaccine," Silverstone wrote in her book. It gives reason to believe the actress will most likely pass on the chance to be immunized against COVID when she becomes eligible.

Jenny McCarthy

McCarthy is one of Hollywood's best-known anti-vaxxers and has not been silent about her views. The actress's son, who has autism, believes that vaccines could be behind his condition. However, Jenny McCarthy doesn't consider herself to be "anti-vaccine" as she told PBS Frontline, "We're not an anti-vaccine movement. We're pro-safe-vaccine schedule." Regardless, we feel confident that McCarthy most likely will not be scheduling an appointment for the COVID vaccine any time soon.

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is Jenny McCarthy's ex - the pair dated from 2005 to 2010 - and he is also known for his anti-vaccine stance. In 2009 he wrote in the Huffington Post, "In this growing crisis, we cannot afford to blindly trumpet the agenda of the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) or vaccine makers. Now more than ever, we must resist the urge to close this book before it's been written." He also spoke out against Gov. Jerry Brown and called him a "fascist" in 2015 for signing a law mandating vaccines for all school-aged children. Given this information, we highly doubt Carrey will get vaccinated.

Robert DeNiro

It is surprising to find out that Robert DeNiro is also on the anti-vaccine bandwagon. This iconic actor has publicly questioned the safety of vaccines, and if they are linked to autism, he even helped promote the anti-vaccine film 'Vaxxed.' Most likely, we won't see DeNiro standing in line for the COVID jab now or in the future.

Letitia Wright

In December of 2020, the 'Black Panther' star found herself in the hot seat after posting an anti-vaccine video on her social media account. Wright posted a 69-minute long video from YouTube on Twitter from the 'On the Table' channel. The video questioned the legitimacy of the COVID-19 vaccine and accused China of spreading COVID, among other offenses. Even though the actress faced a massive backlash for posting the video, she is yet another celebrity that we feel confident will turn down her chance to get vaccinated.
