When life goes uphill

"I don't enjoy living. I don't enjoy it. I don't enjoy things anymore."

These very harsh words came from Christina Applegate in the 'MeSsy' podcast she presents with Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

Multiple sclerosis

The 52-year-old actress was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021. Since then, her quality of life has decreased to such an extent that she has begun suffering from deep depression.

Depression

She says it's a "real, f***-it-all depression, like a real depression, where it's kind of scaring me too a little bit, because it feels really fatalistic, it feels really end-of."

A very harsh reality

It sounds like the actress does not want to continue living. However, she clarified that this is not the case. She just wants to explain why her physical and mental situation is currently devastating.

"I'm trapped in the dark"

"I'm trapped in this darkness right now that I haven't felt in probably 20-something years," Applegate said in her podcast. The 52-year-old actress has been in Hollywood for 40 years.

The importance of going to therapy

Of course, just as she raised her problem in the podcast, she also offered the solution: going to therapy. As she explains, it was very important to her.

Difficult to take the step

The actress revealed that she had not gone to therapy until recently. "I have avoided therapy since I've been diagnosed because I'm so afraid to start crying and that I'm not going to be able to end crying." It is, indeed, daunting to face your anger and fear, but she is grateful for having gone and for the help the therapy sessions gave her.

From depression to television

After discussing her mental health and depression, the actress switched to another topic. "About 10 years ago", she was invited to be part of the program 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She rejected the offer but became good friends with the show's executive producer, Christopher Cullen.

Sincere friends

When Christina Applegate asked him if, now that he knew her, he thought she would have been a fun 'real housewife'. The answer was legendary: "It would have been the most boring s*** I have ever seen in my life."
