Marvel and Game of Thrones

It doesn't matter which you watched first - 'Game of Thrones' or the Marvel film these actors were also in. It is astonishing, however, to note just how many actors who were in the successful GoT series also played minor - and major - roles in the Marvel Universe. See if you remember seeing them...

Natalie Dormer

An English actress who has appeared in an impressive assortment of films and T.V. series such as 'Elementary', 'Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels' and of course, 'Game Of Thrones'. But before becoming a household name in the cult series, she played Private Lorraine in 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.

Kit Harington

Appearing in a few lesser known films during his time as the legendary Jon Snow, but nothing compared to landing a role in the 2021 Marvel blockbuster 'The Eternals'.

Maisie Williams

For many she will always be Arya Stark, but this British actress made the leap to Hollywood stardom by landing the lead role in Marvel's 'The New Mutants'.

Iwan Rheon

This busy Welsh actor will forever be in our minds as the despicable and loathsome Ramsay Bolton, one of the best villains in the 'Game of Thrones' series. But, did you know he also played Maximus in Marvels T.V. series 'Inhumans'?

Richard E. Grant

This legendary actor has been around for years and has added his name to many epic movies. Not only did he play Izembaro for 3 episodes in GOT but he also played a version of Loki in Marvel's series of the same name. The actor also appeared in 'Logan' as Dr. Zander Rice, the final instalment in the 'Wolverine' series of films. Not to mention appearing in 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker', 'Dracula' and 'Spiceworld'.

Jessica Henwick

A British Chinese actress with an impressive CV to her name. Henwick also contributed to the Star Wars franchise in 'The Force Awakens' and is also appearing in the latest 'Matrix' instalment. After finishing 'Game of Thrones', she landed a lead role in Marvel's 'Iron Fist' series as well as appearing in an episode of 'Luke Cage'.

Richard Madden

Rob Stark, AKA The King Of The North. From avenging his Father's death in 'Game of Thrones', to saving the world in Marvel's 'Eternals'; we ask, is there nothing this Scottish actor cant do?

Hannah John-Kamen

As if playing Ornela in GoT wasn't enough to push this actress into stardom, Hannah also plays Antman's nemesis in Marvel's 'Antman And The Wasp'. She landed a role in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and has already worked with Spielberg. So, whats next for this actress?

Clive Russell

Known to most as Brynden Tully, this talented Scottish actor has appeared in many blockbusters over the years but few as impressive as 'Thor: The Dark World', where he played Tyr.

Finn Jones

We have seen Finn Jones appear on the big screen in a few low budget horror films, but this British actor has really made his name in T.V. series - especially in the Marvel Universe, where he played the lead role in 'Iron Fist' and also appeared in 'The Defenders' and 'Luke Cage'.

Sophie Turner

Starting her acting career in 'Game of Thrones', Sophie Turner (now Jonas) went on to become an actress in popular demand, bagging the lead role in Marvel's 'Dark Phoenix'. We also see her in 2022 alongside Colin Firth in the HBO Max TV Mini Series, 'The Staircase'.

Peter Dinklage

One of the few actors to make it to the last season of 'Game of Thrones', breaking the rules and playing a likeable Lanister. However, he was never far away from scandal, drinking, womanising and even murdering his own father. He has starred in not one but two Marvel films. Here is the actor playing Bolivar Trask in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.

Peter Dinklage

Dinklage also made an appearance in 'Avengers: Infinity War'. He played Eitri, a Dwarf who forges weapons, most notably Mjolnir for the Norse God, Thor. He created a weapon for the hammer-swinging god that helped keep Thanos at bay. Even if it was just for a little while.

David Bradley

Bradley has an extremely extensive CV. Many will know him as Walder Frey, a difficult character to like in the hit series. But this English actor has credits in films such as 'Harry Potter', 'Sweeny Todd', 'Hot Fuzz' as well as appearing in 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.

Ed Skrein

Skrein made three appearances in season three of 'Game of Thrones', before being replaced - apparently due to scheduling clashes. According to CBR, he said, "That’s what's been reported in the press but it was a lot more political than that. My plan was to stay with Game of Thrones for the long haul. That was always my plan. I would have loved to. It was a wonderful experience, but politics led to us parting ways." No problem, to us he will always be Wade Wilson's nemesis, 'Francis' in Marvel's 'Deadpool'.

James Faulkner

The unforgettable moment when Dani gets her dragon to sizzle the head of the Tarly household for refusing to bend the knee... That was the exit of James Faulkner as Randyll Tarly from 'Game of Thrones,' after 5 episodes. In 2011, however, we had already seen him in a scene within 'X-Men: First Class', when he played a bank manager who was threatened by Fassbender's Magneto.

Ciaran Hinds

From demon to leader of the Free Folk. Ciaran Hinds played Mance Rayder in 'Game of Thrones' until, like most of the characters in the series, he met a tragic fate (one that many remember thanks to Jon Snow putting him out of his misery by firing an arrow at him to end his suffering as he burned alive). But, a few years previously, he had played Roarke, the human form of the demon in 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance'.

Chuku Modu

Taking the role of Aggo in three episodes of GOT, this British actor also made an appearance in 'Captain Marvel' as a Kree scout. Chuku can also add co-writing and co-producing on to his CV, as well as the 2020 short film, 'Freedoms Name Is Mighty Sweet'.
