'Knives Out' is back!

Daniel Craig is back as the detective called in to solve a stunning mystery! 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery' appeared on Netflix on December 23, 2022.

 

Murder in a family home

In the first film, the plot revolved around the death of the Drysdale family patriarch. Famed crime writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) turned up dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday.

Daniel Craig as the detective

The stylish and curious detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) was recruited to investigate the murder. He initially seemed clueless but eventually appeared to see through the entire family's games.

Box office success

The film, which also featured Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ana de Armas, among other stars, was a total success. Released right before the outbreak of the pandemic in December 2019, it grossed $312.9 million.

A new case

Its resounding box-office success put the producers to work to bring us the second film. A 'Knives Out' franchise, it features the same detective but a different case and a new location: Greece!

Greece: no knitted sweaters

It's warm on the Greek island of Spetses, where Variety claims the movie was shot, so knitted sweaters like Chris Evans' famous look in the first installment are not needed.

The crime revolves around technology tycoon Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and his eclectic group of friends. He invites them to his private island where nothing turns out as it seems.

You may recognize the voice of Miles' watch, the Hourly Dong. It's the sound of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who played in the cult hit '(500) days of Summer' (2009), '10 Things I Hate About You' (1999), and 'Inception' (2010).

And... Angela Lansbury!

Also making cameos will be Natasha Lyonne, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Yo-Yo Ma, Jake Tapper, and Serena Williams. Portraits of Jared Leto and Jeremy Renner appear in bottles of kombucha and hot sauce, respectively. And, last but not least, we get to see Angela Lansbury's final posthumous role. All in all, a star-studded cast.
