The not-so-secret secrets of a gala

The Golden Globes 2024 have 'Oppenheimer' and 'Succession' as the big winners of the evening. But forget the awards... With a 3-hour ceremony, there was always going to be more to report.

Seriously, Kieran?

Kieran Culkin had it in for Pedro Pascal and when he went up to collect the award for Best Actor in a Drama, he didn't hesitate to dedicate a 'S... it, Pedro' that left the audience speechless but which has served the star of 'The Last Of Us' to give the world the first meme of 2024: Pedro Pascal crying. All in good humour, of course. Or so we'd like to think.

Love is in the air

Timothée Chalamet didn't win the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his Willy Wonka, but he didn't care, because he only had eyes for his partner: Kylie Jenner, to whom he dedicated kisses, caresses, cuddles, and all kinds of romantic gestures. All night.

Enjoying Taylor

If anyone enjoyed the gala, it was Taylor Swift. Every time the artist appeared on screen, she was chatting with a celebrity and smiling from ear to ear. However, it was her close friend Selena Gomez who got the lion's share of the attention. Tell us what you're talking about, please!

'Barbie' beats 'The Eras Tour'

It was expected that the award for Best Box Office Achievement would go to 'The Eras Tour', as a way of thanking Taylor Swift for attending the gala, and for its tremendous box office takings (250 million dollars). But, of course, it was competing with 'Barbie', the highest-grossing film of the year (1.442 billion), and ended up losing out.

Nolan's first

'Oppenheimer' won five Golden Globes and Christopher Nolan was the star of the evening. When he went up to collect the award for Best Director, he confessed that he was not used to it, the only time he did it was "accepting one of these on behalf of our dear friend, Heath Ledger". Emotional moment for the filmmaker.

Half a dozen Nolan/Murphy

Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy have worked together six times. At these awards, they both won their first Golden Globe. Interestingly, Murphy is not his most-screened actor, as Michael Caine has worked on eight projects with the director.

A mother's comfort

Bradley Cooper arrived at the Golden Globes to be a 'Maestro' but left empty-handed. Luckily, his mother was by his side to console him. And there's nothing like a mother to pick you up when you're down.

Ricky Gervais is always a winner

Days before the gala, dozens of names of celebrities implicated in the Jeffrey Epstein case were leaked, so the speech in which Ricky Gervais satirised his death went viral again, from the 2020 Golden Globes. The comedian won the new Golden Globe for Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance.

Meryl Streep or Miranda Priestly?

Meryl Streep has 33 Golden Globe nominations, of which she has won 8. This year she was nominated for supporting actress in 'Only Murders in the Building' and didn't win. But she didn't mind, she had all the vibes of Miranda Priestly in 'Devil Wears Prada', thanks to her spectacular look. That's Valentino, not Prada.
