Jack Black cancels band's tour over harsh Trump joke

The bullets that went towards Donald Trump managed to hurt a different celebrity thousands of miles away. The band 'Tenacious D' of Jack Black and Kyle Gass may be over after 30 years together due to a tasteless joke Black made about the presidential candidate.

In the middle of the band's concert in Australia, Jack Black congratulates Kyle Gass on his 64th birthday. On stage, he asks him to make a wish, without knowing what his partner and friend is going to say.

"Don't miss next time with Trump," Kyle Gass said. He caught both the audience and Jack Black by surprise. At that moment, the actor/musician did not react to the comment, but two days later he did.

Once he spoke out, Jack Black did so forcefully, with a message on Instagram. "What was said at Sunday's show took me by surprise," he wrote. "I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form."

But that's not where the incident ended. Jack Black continued: "After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding."

The band celebrates 30 years since its creation this year. The concert it played that night in Australia may have been its last without the band members knowing it.

It didn't take long for Kyle Gass to apologize for his words. His Instagram message arrived minutes after the one sent by Jack Black. "The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake," he said.

"I don't condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I'm incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I've let down and truly regret any pain I've caused," Kyle Gass stated on Instagram.

Before the elections in the United States, Tenacious D was going to give a tour called 'Rock the Vote' to encourage young people to vote. For now, it seems there will be no tour, though.
