Their relationship became public in 1998. In 2000 there was a proposal and an (almost) secret wedding in Malibu. Yes, that's nearly a quarter century ago already!

The two referred to the enormous media attention for their break-up. Many journalists as well as fans were speculating about the reasons why Hollywood's iconic couple broke up after five years of marriage.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston emphasized in their statement that there were no third parties involved in the breakup. But that was not entirely true.

In several media, Angelina Jolie appeared as Brad Pitt's new crush. As became increasingly clear, Brad and Angelina had met and fallen in love while filming 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' (image).

Shortly after his breakup with Jennifer Aniston - one month to be precise - the first steps of Brad Pitt's romance with Angelina Jolie began. They would get married and have six children together. Their relationship would end in 2016.
