Meet the 60-year-old winner of Miss Universe Buenos Aires

Alejandra Rodríguez is a 60-year-old woman who is causing a commotion on social media. Why? Because, at the incredible age of 60, she won the Miss Universe Buenos Aires pageant. The victory has been described as historic in Argentina.

Rodríguez continues on her way to be crowned Miss Universe Argentina and then will seek the title of Miss Universe in the next edition of the international beauty pageant, which will be held in November in Mexico.

Many consider Rodriguez, thanks to her beauty and charm, to be one of the favorites among the 28 contestants who will compete.

One of the most striking things about her is that, although she is 60 years old, she looks so much younger, something that has shocked everyone.

"Yes, there is something genetic [in looking younger]. I think it's a combination, and I always say it's a positive attitude, not wasting time on problems that don't deserve it, trying to detox from the environment, from violence, from bad vibes, from everything that surrounds us", explained Rodríguez on the program 'Desayuno Americano'.

And while it used to be impossible to compete in Miss Universe after a certain age, changes in the administration of the pageant are now giving older women the opportunity to fulfill their dream.

Since 2022, Miss Universe has allowed pregnant women, married women, women with children, and divorced women to participate. And in 2023, the inclusion of a transgender woman and a plus-size woman was authorized. And, on 12 September 2023, the age limit was removed, opening the door to women over the age of 28.

So, the 60-year-old Argentinean model from the city of La Plata managed to enter the contest and take the Miss Universe Buenos Aires crown, but she isn't going to stop there.

"No [I had never participated in a beauty contest], only a high school contest, something very local, and no, I was never a model, I never worked as a model.... I don't have (cosmetic) surgeries... I use good creams, some natural beauty treatments, massages...", explained the Argentinian.

Rodriguez is a lawyer and legal advisor to a hospital, as well as a journalist.

She likes nature, the sun, tranquility, sitting by the sea and listening to the sound of the waves, meditating... animals (she believes we have a lot to learn from them). She usually goes for walks, does physical activity, eats healthy food, preferably organic, and also cooks according to these guidelines...

She enjoys traveling to discover new landscapes, people, and cultures. As for music, she loves tango, Latin American music, and deep and poetic lyrics. She also likes poetry, going out with friends, and enjoying the good moments that life gives us.

The Argentinian lawyer, who has no children, also speaks several languages: Italian, Portuguese, and English, proving herself a very educated woman. We wish her all the best.
