Melania confirms where she'll live during Donald Trump's new term
As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to move back into the White House, questions have arisen about the living arrangements of his family. According to recent reports, Melania Trump and their son, Barron, won’t be spending all their time under the same roof as the president.
In an interview with Fox News, the incoming first lady revealed that she will mostly be in the White house, but also that she will divide her time between Washington D.C., New York, and Palm Beach. "“When I need to be in New York, I will be in New York,” she said. “When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife.”
Melania emphasized her commitment to being a hands-on mother for Barron, who is in his first year at the Stern School of Business at New York University (NYU).
In a September interview with Fox News, Melania spoke about Barron’s transition to university life. ""I'm very proud of what he grew up to," Melania said. "His strength. His intelligence. His knowledge, his kindness. It's admirable."
Melania explained that she has raised Barron, her only biological son, to make his own choices. "He’s an incredible young man," she said.
While attending NYU, Barron has chosen to live at Trump Tower rather than in campus housing, according to Melania. However, the 18-year-old will also have a room at the White House for visits with his parents.
Melania plans to stay closely connected to her son during this pivotal time. A source told People, that she will do everything she can to make sure Barron adjusts socially and mentally to life as a college student.
Melania revealed during her Fox News interview that she’s working on a documentary about her life for Amazon, following her successful memoir.
There was some speculation as to whether she would move into the White House this time around. But she said things are different now, suggesting that the Obamas withheld information that helped her move in easily last time. "I know the rooms where we will be living. I know the process. The first time was challenging," hshe said.
"But this time, I have everything. I have plans I could move in. I already packed, I already selected the, you know, the furniture that needs to go in. So, it's very different," even so, she emphasized that the Bidens are still in the White House and it takes just five hours for the White House to welcome new residents.
