Born in the spotlight

As the first child of Céline Dion and René Angélil, René-Charles was born into the limelight. He entered the world January 25, 2001, in Florida (USA), following a successful IVF treatment.

A unique childhood

Unlike other children his age, René-Charles didn't attend a regular school. He lived between Las Vegas and Florida, following the rhythm of Céline Dion's tours, and was homeschooled by a tutor.

The boy with long hair

The media often commented on René-Charles' appearances, particularly his "unconventional" style, as he wore his hair long.

Basketball and hockey fan

A sports enthusiast, René-Charles enjoyed a basketball court at home and attended games with his parents, such as a memorable match at Madison Square Garden in December 2009. He also loved ice hockey and played in the AA league for the Nevada Storm, according to Vanity Fair.

The painful loss of his father

After battling throat cancer, his father, René Angélil, passed away on January 14, 2016, at the age of 73. René-Charles was only 15. At his father's funeral, he bravely spoke: "“Fifteen years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father. You had a busy life but we were communicating through golf, hockey, poker and smoked meat and a lot of other wonderful food," he said.

The eldest sibling

During his speech, René-Charles also mentioned his two younger brothers, twins Eddy and Nelson, born in 2010. ""You left me now with enough good memories of you to share with my younger brothers... As they grow older, without you being around, I'll make sure to pass on what I've learned from you."

Music runs in his veins

With a producer father and a singer mother, René-Charles seemed destined for a music career. Indeed, he ventured into music a few years ago, but in a genre very different from his mother's.

A rap album

In 2021, he began his music career under the stage name Big Tip, releasing songs on his SoundCloud page. He later launched his first mini-rap album titled 'CasiNo.5,' featuring lyrics he composed. It's available on Apple Music.

His love life

René-Charles keeps his love life very private. However, it is known that he had a long-term relationship with Angélique Weckmann, the daughter of the owner of the luxury Wynn Las Vegas hotel. They met through their shared passion for ice sports: she was a figure skater, and he played hockey.
