Actress Lynne Marta dies just weeks after her great love David Soul
After a long fight against cancer, actress Lynne Marta died on January 11, at 78 years of age.
You will surely remember the actress thanks to her role as 'Lulu Warnicker', the aunt of the character 'Ren' played by Kevin Bacon, in the 1984 film 'Footloose'.
The Hollywood Reporter points out that the actress died at her home in Los Angeles after a long fight against cancer. She passed only a few weeks after her ex, David Soul, had died.
The two stars had a strong bond. As revealed by People magazine, Lynne Marta and David Soul had an 'open relationship' while he was married to actress Karen Carlson.
People magazine described the relationship in 1983 like this: "Throughout the 'Starsky and Hutch' years, David and Lynne lived together but spent time with other people."
The actress had previously been married to actor Brick Houston, from 1968 to 1975, as revealed by Daily Mail.
The actress was also recognized for her appearance in different successful programs such as 'Love, American Style' (1969-1970), 'Starsky and Hutch' (1975-1978), 'Charlie's Angels' (1978-1980), 'Law and Order' (1993), 'Kojak' (1974), among others.
Although she had practically retired since the 90s, her success garnered multiple productions on the big and small screen like the soap operas 'The Young and the Restless' (1997) and 'Days of Our Lives' (1983-2003).
Lynne Marta was born on October 30, 1945, originally from New Jersey with humble roots and a simple childhood.
Her father worked in the control of air and water pollution in his city. As a child, she always knew that she wanted to get out of her town and dedicate herself to acting.
Like many other stars, she sought to make her way through dance first. She debuted in the teen dance program 'The Lloyd Thaxton Show'. Later, he decided to move to Los Angeles in search of greater opportunities, which did not take long to arrive.
Her talent and love for acting kept her active for more than 30 years. Although she never obtained a leading role that would catapult her to maximum stardom, the actress was always grateful and happy to have been able to fulfill her dream of acting in recognized productions.
The actress also made headlines for having closely experienced the macabre murder of Rebecca Schaeffer (photo), actress of 'My Sister Sam'. The rising star was murdered at the age of 21 in her home in Los Angeles by Robert John Bardo, a fan who was obsessed with her.
Marta became vitally relevant in the case because she was Schaeffer's neighbor and testified at the trial against Bardo. She reported hearing the shots that took the life of the promising actress, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Her last film role was in 2002, in the production 'Time of Fear', where she played Mrs. LeDoux.
Lynne Marta is survived by her sister MJ and her cat Mr. Peaches, according to the Daily Mail.
