Experience in beauty pageants

Her decision was taken lightly, as she has already participated in several beauty pageants, becoming Mrs. Asia International Global in 2014, Mrs. Philippines-Germany in 2000 and Mrs. MWI Philippines in 2013, according to information published by the Excelsior newspaper.

Quezon City contest

To reach her goal, Cubales is currently participating in the regional competition in Quezon City, which is the most populated city in the Republic of the Philippines and the richest urban center in the country. In the pageant, he represents Baesa, which is a district of Quezon City.

She seeks to be Miss Philippines and then Miss Universe

If she succeeds in this contest, Cubales will advance nationally to compete for the title of Miss Philippines 2024 and thus be able to participate in Miss Universe, whose crown currently belongs to Sheynnis Palacios (Miss Nicaragua 2023, photo).

She has grit

"At 69 years old, she believes that the younger generation can learn a lot from her life experiences, most especially grit. See her give light to the universe." This is how she was presented at the Quezon City contest.

She still has to pass several stages

Cubales will still have to go through some stages, but she is ready to shine in the Quezon City pageant, which could lead her to participate in Miss Universe.

Model, fashion designer and more

It should be noted that Cubales is a mother of two children, a grandmother, a fashion designer, and a doctor in Naturopathy and Alternative Medicine. Without a doubt, a very prepared and experienced woman.

Charity for children

Regarding the cause she supports, the fashion designer indicated the following: "From the beginning, the cause that I have close to my heart is education for children, we already built a school and we have a foundation…"

Motivate young people to care for the elderly

“Now that I am an elderly person, I would like to motivate the younger generations to take care of the elderly and to have respect for them, and to give them time, because we don't have much time anymore. We don't know how long we are going to live. That is why I encourage all people to take care of older people," said Cubales in an interview with Héctor Cermeño, a vlogger specializing in beauty pageants.

Changes in Miss Universe

Before, it was not possible to compete in Miss Universe as an elderly person, but now the changes in the administration of this pageant are allowing Cubales to fulfill her dream.

Now there is more inclusion

Since 2022, Miss Universe has allowed the participation of pregnant and married women, women with children, and divorced women. And in 2023, the inclusion of a transgender woman and a plus-size woman was authorized. Now, since September 12, 2023, the age limit has been removed, opening the door to women over 28 years of age.

'Nothing is impossible now'

“When the Miss Universe organization announced in September the removal of the age restriction, I received many messages. Nothing is impossible now and it is time for us to embrace the changes and go for inclusion,” Cubales wrote on her Facebook account.

Miss Universe will be held this year in Mexico

If she manages to be Miss Philippines, Cubales would become the first elderly woman to aspire to the Miss Universe crown, whose 73rd edition will take place in December 2024 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Cubales divides opinions

Of course, her possible participation in the pageant has divided opinions, since some consider that she has all the necessary ability and beauty to win, and see her as an inspiration, but others question the limits of inclusion in beauty pageants and believe that she shouldn't be there.

Seek to make a difference

“If you have the power to change the world and make a difference, would you give the power to someone else? This is my message to them,” Cubales responded when in an interview, conducted by Héctor Cermeño, he was asked what he would say to those who are against his participation.

Historical participation

But, beyond everything, if Cubales achieves her goal, she could become the first senior Miss Universe, something that would be historic, although her participation is already historic since it has gone viral in the media and her name is already known around the world.
