Demetria Gene Guynes was born in 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico and her childhood was a tragic one. As she revealed in her book 'Inside Out', her mother had a drinking problem and forced her at age 15 to go to bed with a stranger in exchange for $500.

Her biological father abandoned the family, and then her stepfather took his own life when she was a child. All of these elements forged a fragile and unstable woman.

Demi Moore managed to come out of her complicated situation and began to make her way into the difficult world of acting when she was 16.

She also took modeling jobs, even in magazines like 'Oui' or 'Penthouse.' She used the pseudonym of Vivianne Pollentier.

At the beginning of the '80s, she participated in films such as 'Choices', 'Parasite' and 'No Small Affair' before getting her first big role with the TV series 'General Hospital' (ABC). There, she played the character of Jackie Templeton, a young reporter who appeared in dozens of episodes.

Demi Guynes changed her name to Demi Moore when she married Freddy Moore in 1980. They would split up in 1985.
