Remember All Saints? See how the singers are today!

For those who were teenagers in the 90s, international pop music was marked by the birth of both boy and girl groups, such as Take That or the Spice Girls. Among these, we could also enjoy All Saints. Do you remember the girl group, and whatever happened to them?

Melanie Blatt, Shaznay Lewis, Nicole, and Natalie Appleton are the four girls who in 1993 gave birth to the famous group All Saints.

It all began when friends Melanie and Shaznay began their careers as backing vocals for ZTT Records, a company based on All Saints Road in London.

A few years later, in 1995, the idea was born to incorporate Nicole (Melanie's former classmate) and her sister Natalie Appleton into the band, giving a definitive shape to the unforgettable All Saints.

In 1997, All Saints launched their first self-titled studio album 'All Saints,' a disc that was anticipated by a famous single: 'Never Ever.'

The album sold more than 7 million copies worldwide, opening the doors to the international stage. The All Saints cover 'Under the Bridge' - the famous song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers - was also on that first album. As many will remember, that track, too, was a big success.

However, the best was yet to come for Melanie, Shaznay, and the Appleton sisters. With the collaboration of musician and record producer William Orbit, they gave life to what would be considered their biggest single: 'Pure Shores.'

The song was chosen as the soundtrack for the film 'The Beach' (2000), directed by Danny Boyle and starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Unforgettable, it became a much-used song for commercials.

Although there were rumors of strong tensions within the band, in 2000, All Saints amazed everyone by launching their second studio album, 'Saints & Sinners.' It was preceded by the single 'Black Coffee' and also contained the hit 'Pure Shores.'

Suddenly, in 2002, despite enormous international success, the group dissolved. As it seemed from reports, this was due to internal disagreements. Right before they had to leave for their world tour that year, the constant quarrels and rivalries within the group led to an irreparable break between the four girls.

Insiders said the fights had to do with the celebrity status of the sisters Natalie and Nicole, as they were engaged to, respectively, Liam Howlett of the Prodigy (whom Natalie married in 2004) and Liam Gallagher of Oasis (whom Nicole married in secret in 2008).

After the dramatic breakup, each of the four girls went her separate way. Melanie began a collaboration with Artful Dodger for the song 'Twentyfourseven,' while Shaznay dedicated herself to acting, joining the cast of the film 'Bend It Like Beckham' (2002).

The Appleton sisters, on the other hand, continued their career as singers, this time as a duo, launching the album 'Everything's Eventual'. However, without the other Saints, they did not have as much success.

After several years, the four singers decided to put aside old grudges. They got together in 2006 and launched a third All Saints studio album: 'Studio 1'. Unfortunately, it was a commercial flop. The fame of earlier years now seemed to be a distant memory.

The women did not give up, though. They recorded two more studio albums: 'Red Flag' in 2016 and 'Testament' in 2018.

The latest work signed by All Saints was a cover of 'Message in a Bottle,' one of The Police's greatest hits. They worked together with Sting himself. The single was released in 2020.

During these years of All Saints comings and going, the four women continued to devote themselves to other projects and lived tumultuous private lives.

Melanie has been a TV host since 2007. She began hosting a British music program, 'The Hot Desk,' on ITV. In 2013 she was also chosen as a judge on the New Zealand talent show 'X-Factor.'

Shaznay, on the other hand, only had sporadic collaborations with All Saints when it came to work in entertainment. She married dancer Christian 'Storm' Horsfall in 2004 and they had two children.

Like her colleague Melanie, Nicole has also hosted the TV show 'The Hot Desk' since 2007. Strikingly, she interviewed Liam Gallagher on the show in 2009, while they were married. Five years later, in 2014, the couple would divorce with the eyes of the entire British press on them. They had one son in common, Gene.

Unlike her sister, Natalie Appleton almost completely disappeared from the scene. After marrying The Prodigy's Liam Howlett in 2002, she became a mother to her only son, Ace Billy, in 2004.

Even though they weren't together for long and only produced two albums in their heydays, All Saints will always be part of the collective memory of a generation.

The years of their greatest production and success were those between the 90s and the early 2000s, a period in which the four girls became teen idols. Apart from that, however, they made songs that are still being played millions of times on Spotify.
