Snoop Dogg's best moments at the Olympics, from Paris to LA

One of the big surprises at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics: was rapper Snoop Dogg being one of the most striking celebrity cheerleaders in the stands.

At the closing ceremony on August 11, the rapper had returned to Los Angeles, where the next Olympics will be held. He embodied the transition of the Games from Paris to LA with his performance on the beach.

While the Games were still going on, he popped up among the audiences of several Olympic disciplines. Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, better known as Snoop Dogg, surprised Paris and the world with his unique Summer Olympic style.

Well, why, if you're going to the famous royal palace of Versailles to watch an elite sport with the best horses in the world, would you not dress to the occasion? The rapper looked smart in this full equestrian kit and was nicknamed 'Snoop Horse' by the Olympics organization on X.

Snoop Dogg and his near-inseparable sunglasses are at the Olympics to promote the event and make sure more Americans watch the live broadcasts on NBC.

After somewhat disappointing viewer numbers for Tokyo 2021, NBC sought a new way to make the Games more attractive to the American audience, BBC reports. So they sent Snoop Dogg to Paris. With a beret, of course.

The rapper brought, among other people, his son Cordell Broadus (photo) and an enormous wardrobe of specially designed, Team USA-inspired gear.

The rapper's multiple suitcases are filled with clothing in stars-and-stripes motifs, while his sunglasses also have stars on them and he wears pictures of his favorite athletes on his T-shirts and sweatshirts.

The rapper's cheerful presence, outfits, and funny comments appear to be drawing more viewers for NBC in the US. In the first five days of the Olympics, audience ratings were 79% higher than those of Tokyo, BBC reports.

On the opening day of the Games, Snoop Dogg had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch through the streets of Paris. The images of the rapper with this pointy, lit stick gave rise to drug-related comparisons, as the rapper has been known for his love of joints.

Another important task was commenting on the women's soccer game between the USA and Japan. Snoop's colleague in the press area, Andrés Cantor from Telemundo, taught the rapper how to yell 'GOAAAAAAAAL' ('GOOOOOOOOOL') as a real Spanish-language commentator.

The Paris Olympics have seen different weather types, from rain to burning sunlight, so visitors have to be prepared for everything. Snoop's umbrella protects him against both heat and water.

Of course, when you're in the stands, you can't use an umbrella. For those moments, Snoop has his characteristic hood and he also brought a pocket fan to the men's street skateboarding competition.

Not everyone is prepared like he is, but Snoop Dogg doesn't mind sharing a whiff of his fan's breeze with other members of the audience. He comes across as a very likable guy.

In the end, it is not surprising, though a bit unusual, that Snoop Dogg's face was held up by the fans along with the faces of great athletes like Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, and others. In his own way, the rapper has become a star cheerleader for the Olympics.
