Elisabeth, the beautiful crown princess of Belgium
She's off to university and blossoming as a glamorous European royal. Elisabeth, the Crown Princess of Belgium and Duchess of Brabant has increasingly established herself as a fashion icon. Let's have a look at some of her best outfits and get to know the tastes of the future queen.
Elisabeth is nothing like a damsel in distress but rather a tough young lady! She went to the Royal Military Academy and knows how to climb mountains and handle weapons. The princess spent a year in military training and many of her recent photos feature the camouflage colour palette.

But there's also bright red, orange, and pink! See for example this tangelo orange dress by the Belgian designer Natan, combined with a hat of the same colour from Fabienne Delvigne, which she wore at the National Day celebration in July 2021.
At the moment, Princess Elisabeth is studying History and Politics at Oxford University's Lincoln College. She's blending into the student population with contemporary, casual outfits like this pair of jeans with a double-layered shirt.

The 18th birthday of Princess Elisabeth was a special occasion. It meant that she was officially ready to become queen (even though her father is expected to continue as king for many years to come). The young royal wore a classic white trench coat dress by Natan. Various European media compared her style to that of Kate Middleton.
It was a big contrast with the outfit she would be wearing a year later when the princess attended the military academy for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Yet, the Belgian royal has shown on more than one occasion that she is most of all a stylish princess. For example in this Emporio Armani ensemble at the funeral of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg.
Elisabeth loves bright colours, dresses, and high heels. She follows in the footsteps of her mother, Queen Mathilde, who always makes sure the entire family is dressed in matching colours.
Mother and daughter's love for color was clear during their visit to the finals of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for classical musicians in 2018. Her bright fuchsia floral trousers from Diane von Furstenberg matched excellently with her mother's orange Armani dress.
Elisabeth was 16 years old and wore braces at the time of the Belgian national holiday in July 2017. Yet, she appeared at the event as an elegant young woman guiding her younger siblings through the steps of the official ceremony.
For her 17th birthday, the Belgian royal palace posted this photo on Instagram, in which the princess wears a pink blouse with open sleeves and off-white floral trousers. There's a story behind these clothes. Her mum wore the blouse in 2010 and the pants come from the confection store Zara instead of an expensive and exclusive fashion designer.

Joining her mother on a visit to Kenya in 2019, Elisabeth once again chose a bright pink for one of her outfits. The blouse was, once again, from Zara.

On Belgium's national holiday in July 2019, Princess Elisabeth returned to the Belgian designer Natan. The clutch, in striking cobalt blue, is also from Natan.
The princess combined her Natan clutch with striking blue shoes from the designer Gianvito Rossi. She seemed quite comfortable in these high heels!
Another brand the princess likes to wear is Maje. The French ready-to-wear clothing line includes this black midi dress with embroidered flowers and a red belt.
She wore the striking dress on the Belgian national holiday in 2018, where she was also seen joking around with her brother Gabriël.
Elisabeth's red velvet jumpsuit caught all the attention of international royalty and fashion watchers during the annual Christmas concert in December 2019.
The princess, who generally uses very modest makeup, wore bright red lipstick and a set of starry earrings to match her velvet jumpsuit.
When her grandmother Paola turned 80, Elisabeth wore a blue summer dress that is also part of Pippa Middleton's wardrobe! The younger sister of Kate Middleton wore this 'Rafina poplin shirt dress' by Maje during her honeymoon in Australia in 2017, according to Hello! magazine.
Like many European aristocrats, the Belgian royal family loves to ski. During their holiday in Verbier, Switzerland, in 2016, Elisabeth sported a bright pink ski jacket with white trousers.
Elisabeth tends to choose white, whether it's on official occasions or during her free time with the family. She wore jeans and a white blouse with chiffon sleeves for a walk in the hills in Bouillon, Belgium.
And how about this set for a bike trip with (among others) her brother Gabriël? She combined her loose khaki green chinos with a white top that is both sporty and elegant.
Pictured on their first day back in high school, Princess Elisabeth (15) and Prince Gabriël (14) wore comfortable and warm autumn clothing. Her patterned knitted cardigan was perfect for September weather in Brussels: if the sun came through in the afternoon, she could simply take it off.
For Christmas 2019, Elisabeth shone in this long zig zag dress by Ba&Sh. Not everyone was enchanted by the outfit though: the Belgian magazine TV-Familie said it was "everything but elegant". Yet, this example also shows how rare it is for the media to criticize the princess's outfits. She is generally praised by fashion watchers, and Vogue even lists her among the world's most stylish royals.
Whether it's a casual pair of jeans or a fancy designer dress, Princess Elisabeth always manages to surprise us.

More and more, she's drawing the spotlights away from her father, King Philippe, and proving herself to be an excellent heir to the Belgian throne.
