Eggers told EW: "In many ways, he's [Hoult] the damsel in distress in this story. The main thing that makes this different from the other versions of Nosferatu is that it focuses much more on Lily-Rose’s character Ellen.

To achieve his unique vision, Eggers teamed up with Oscar-nominated cinematographer Jarin Blaschke and production designer Craig Lathrop.
Development started shortly after the release of 'The Witch,' which marked Eggers' directorial debut and Anya Taylor-Joy’s acting debut. Initially intended as his second film, Eggers delayed 'Nosferatu' to perfect it.
The movie was primarily shot in Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic and Romania, from February to May 2023.
It premieres in the U.S. on December 25, 2024, with releases in Latin America and Europe expected in January 2025.

Film buffs might be skeptical about a remake of what is considered one of the best movies ever, but Eggers has earned his reputation as a horror master. “It’s a scary film. It’s a horror movie. It’s a Gothic horror movie,” he told Empire in 2024. “And I do think that there hasn’t been an old-school Gothic movie that’s actually scary in a while. And I think that the majority of audiences will find this one to be the case.”

Coppola’s 1992 version, titled 'Bram Stoker’s Dracula,' was a huge success.
The character has appeared in over 200 films and is the quintessential Western vampire. Bram Stoker based him on the real-life Vlad Tepes, aka “Vlad the Impaler.” Dracula has also inspired numerous plays and a TV series.
The 2000 indie film, starring Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich, speculates on the idea that Max Schreck, who played Nosferatu in the 1922 film, was an actual vampire due to his eccentric behavior on set.
