Golden Globes 2022: nominees of the scandalous gala announced

The nominees for the 2022 Golden Globe awards have been released!! However, not without controversy as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association finds itself being closely examined following an article in the LA Times that was anything but complimentary.

Just days before the 2021 Golden Globes ceremony last year, the Los Angeles Times published investigations that put the HFPA's practices into question. There were accounts of scandals and allegations that the studios often bribed members of HFPA in exchange for votes.

In addition, the HFPA has been accused of being prejudiced and called out for the lack of diversity among its judges. Thus, after the last gala, advertisers and the industry distanced themselves from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and even NBC announced that it would not broadcast the 2022 Golden Globes gala.

The HFPA has admitted 21 new members, updated its bylaws, and now has a diversity advisor in recent months. Despite everything, the gala is still set to take place on January 9th, 2022. At the moment, it seems that the only way to watch the awards ceremony will be on YouTube or through the Golden Globes webpage, where it will be live-streamed.

It remains to be seen if, as has always been said, the Golden Globes are still the prelude to the Oscars... or has the connection to the most relevant awards in the industry in Hollywood been lost? Whatever the case may be, these are the nominees for the Golden Globes.
