The Princess of Wales, 43, shared a striking photo to her followers on social media. The image was posted the day before World Cancer Day, which is observed internationally on the 4th of February.

A personal image, taken by her son

The post contains two photos - the first of the Princess herself standing with her arms raised in the middle of the woods. This photo she dutifully gave the photo credit to her 6 year old son, Prince Louis. The second image was a close up of ferns with a poignant message...

Highlighting the many different facets of cancer

"Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease. C," read the message, along with the hashtag #WorldCancerDay.

The beginning of a new chapter

On January 14th, the Princess of Wales visited the Royal Marsden Hospital, the Daily Mail reported at the time. During her visit, Middleton announced news that was widely expected and enjoyed by the public.

In remission

During the emotional visit, the Princess of Wales made it known that she is finally in remission. Despite the good news, Middleton remains focused on the full recovery of her health and the well-being of her family, being selective with her schedule.

Goodbye to chemo

In September last year, Kate Middleton announced that her preventative chemotherapy treatment had been completed. The palace did not revealed further details - the message itself was released in an emotional video by the princess.

Filmed announcement

The Princess of Wales, in a beautiful and cinematic 3-minute video, announced to the world that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment.

A united and happy family

The video, shared on her social media, is laid out like a movie and features Kate Middleton with Prince William and her three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, as well as her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, along with a lengthy and specific message.

An unforgettable summer (for good and bad)

"As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family," the statement begins.

An unknown path with a (so far) happy ending

"Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown," she continues.

'Complex and scary'

As Kate Middleton confirms, "the cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable". Fortunately, that journey, for the time being, seems to have come to an end.

There is still al long way to go

"Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus," the Princess states. "Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes."

Return to work ‘when she can’

The Princess of Wales was already looking to the horizon and seeing options to ‘being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months’. She added that she will do so ‘when she can’ and thanked the millions of messages of support she has received over the last few months.

Carpe diem

The video and its content wants to give the world a powerful message: to value the day to day, the daily plans and the people around you who, in the end, are the ones who are with you in the most complicated moments.

A summer at Anmer Hall

The video shared by Kate Middleton looked back at last summer - again, with a strong nature focus - with walks in the countryside, family card games, outdoor picnics, games on the beach but, above all, a message of happiness and togetherness. It seems nature is part of the Princess' healing process and she will venture to the woods in Summer and Winter.
